I am thinking of restocking an M1 Garand. Have looked at the Boyds, Fulton Armory, and the CMP but for the life of me can't decide which one to choose. Anyone out there have experiences with these stocks? Please let me know the pro's and con's. Thanks in advance.:patriot::patriot::cheers::patriot::patriot:

Thanks, I'll check it out.
I restocked mine with a Boyd's stock.... it was a great fit!!!
I have a Boyds, and a CMP. I like the CMP better, although the Boyds is not bad.

I recently bought a Boyd's stock for one of my IHCs, but for the life of me I can't get the trigger housing to lock in place in this stock! I guess I'll have to stick with the SA stock it's in for now.
If anyone is interested, I'll sell the Boyd's for $85 shipped. It's still in ANIB condition, and has had no finish applied.

Back to this stock thing. (hope ya'll dont think I'm running this into the ground) The stock that is on my garand is a very thick, heavy bodied thing. It has the "P" inside the circle proof mark behind the trigger guard, and a RRAD mark on the left side of the stock behind the pistol grip, with no other proof marks. I know that the "RRAD" mark is a "RED RIVER ARMY DEPOT" rebuild mark. I'm a little stumped as to the thickness of the thing. It's thicker than a Boyds stock. Could this be an old M1D sniper stock? I'm no garand guru, so I have no idea as to what kind of stock go's with what rifle. It does'nt have any nicks, dings, or gouges, so I'm thinking of retaining/refinnishing it. The front and rear hand guards are the standard issue. Any help/ideas welcomed.:teddy::cheers::teddy:

If it's not beat up with nicks, dings, or gouges, I'd strip and refinish it yourself. It's not that hard, I've done dozens of Garand and carbine stocks with no special equipment, just a little knowledge that can be picked up.
Some USGI stocks are thicker at the wrist than others. I've found that Winchester stocks seem to be thicker than Springfield stocks. To me, all the after market commercial stocks that I've handled are thicker than USGI stocks.
Here's a picture of the latest Garand stock I refinished. You just have to strip off the old oil finish, steam out an nicks, let dry, buff up the stock with some 0000 steel wool, then apply your choice of Tung Oil or Boiled Lindseed Oil mix. Tung Oil is a little better protectant, but I prefer the original look (and smell) of Boiled Lindseed Oil.

HRA stocks were generally thicker than others. It is also known for a "big backporch", meaning the flat area at top, surrounding the receiver butt. Your cartouched stock is worth more than a replacement without cartouches. Best to keep it and add a replacement that's smaller, or maybe cut down a replacement (Boyd's) to your liking.
To fit a trigger group onto a stock that won't accept it, carefully remove wood in the area where the trigger group will rest. Use carving tools, or maybe a bit of coarse sandpaper. Remove a little, check with trigger group, remove a little.....then stop when it'll lock up well.
