As a resident of said city, it doesn't surprise me in the least....
They've had a run of anti-firearm editorials in the past week and current year.
1) After the VT incident, they declined to list classified ads for firearms
2) Thanksgiving week editorials "Daddy, what's a militia" pt 1 and pt 2
3) this one.
