Hi all. I'm new to the board, and also new to the West Michigan area (Kalamazoo). I looking for info on who conducts cpl classes in this area. Also looking for any indoor pistol ranges in the area.

Go here for one local club. http://www.kalamazoorodandgunclub.org/ Only indoor is .22 pistol once a week. Other local club is http://www.southernmichigangunclub.com/index.html
They have an indoor range with limited hours. Both are member club with more outdoor facilities. There are no commercial ranges in Kalamazoo. There may be one or two in Battle Creek but I've never bothered to look them up. I shoot at KRGC's outdoor ranges all year long.
KRGC has limited membership. Sometime this spring membership may open again. It's usually the first x number in line a 10:00 one saturday morning until the membership is full again. SMGC is open membership but the outdoor ranges are range officer controlled only for the most part. Too many idiots and too many houses close by.
Usually both clubs have someone giving CPL classes. The local Gander Mountain also offers one at times. Also check On Target on West Main (M43) west of 131 and 9th street for fliers for classes.
I'm in Portage.
I've shot at Silver Bullet once or twice in Grand Rapids to introduce a friend to shooting.

Thanks for the info guys. I've driven by On Target a couple of times, but haven't had the chance to stop in. I'll try to do that next week. I've had a couple of people tell me about the two clubs mentioned, also.

There are a couple of salesmen I don't much care for. (Rude/Ignore me)
But most have been very helpful and friendly.
I did not take the CCW class but I have shot there several times and bought one gun from them.
Over all I did not have a issue with customer service.

I would highly recommend a short 15-20 minute drive to Battle Creek and visit Southside Sportsman's Club.
I have known Joel and Jared Fulton, the owners, for a number of years. They are great guys, conduct excellent training classes, sell handguns and have a very nice indoor range.
Check out their website at :http://www.southsidesportsmanclub.com/
Contact them and pick up a copy of "The Right to Carry : An Awesome Responsibility." authored by Joel Fulton, when you attend their CCW class.

I had one problem there a few years ago and brought it to Rick's attention and it was resolved satisfactorily. I shoot with a fair amount of the guys working there, good people. I'm surprised you had a problem of that type. Talk to Rick or Doug they can't fix things that they may not be aware of. JMO
I took my class at Silver Bullet and thought it was pretty good. Even bought a couple guns there and the customer service was ok. No complaints.

I have to second that. I used to live in SW Michigan and was going to take my CCW course with Jared, but I ended up leaving the state before I did.
Oh, and between the two ranges in Kalamazoo, go with the Kzoo Rod and Gun club. I've belonged to both and the Southern Michigan Gun Club sucks in comparison.
