Can you believe the Dems elected this guy? What a joke.
What's the scoop with this guy?
He's the new Meck. Co. Sheriff.
"Democratic sheriff's candidate Nick Mackey was suspended without pay by Charlotte police in 2003 after sources said an investigation indicated that he and a fellow sergeant lied about the hours they worked."
"A March 2003 Observer story also quoted sources saying Mackey had been accused of sending sexually explicit material, including photographs, from his city-issued computer."
"The Observer reported last week that Mackey faced possible firing or demotion when he resigned in 2003 after 14 years with the department. It quoted sources saying he'd put in for hours he didn't work. Mackey told the Observer he left the force to study for the bar exam, and refused to elaborate on the circumstances of his resignation."
"Mackey, according to court documents, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in September 2005, saying he owed $379,627 mostly on student loans and credit cards. In February 2006, the case was closed, records show. Such filings generally release someone from personal liability for most debts."
"The tax lien, according to another court document, was issued on Sept. 27, 2005, and said Mackey owed the Internal Revenue Service $12,153 in taxes, interest and penalties from tax years 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2002. "Over various years, I would owe the IRS and pay the IRS," he said. "At this current moment, I owe no money.""
"Mackey was accused of driving 80 mph in a 45 mph zone on N.C. 49 near W.T. Harris Boulevard in June, court records show. In September, he was charged with driving 65 mph in a 45 mph zone on University City Boulevard near John Kirk Road. Most recently, he was accused on Halloween of driving 54 in a 35 mph zone on South Boulevard near Scaleybark Road."
There was another article that I can't find about how he is under review for being disbarred because he basically blackmailed a former client of his law firm for $250.
This guy is a criminal but now he is the Meck. Co. Sheriff. Go figure.
Doesn't the county commission have to confirm the selection?
Of course, anything that is less than complimentary of Mackey is now racist hate speech.
