I met another "celebrity" in my travels this past week; actor Mark Metcalf, who played Niedermeyer on Animal House and Maestro on Seinfeld. He owns a terrific bar/grill/dining hall in the suburbs of Milwaukee, and after I ate dinner there, he stood for a picture with me and we chatted a bit. Nice guy. I gave a nod and heya to Ron Jeremy in BWI airport, getting one back, an autographed picture from James "Scotty" Doohan, and said hello to the then mayor of Columbus, Ohio at a George Carlin performance there. I also got to briefly meet G. Gordon Liddy once, too.
When I was younger, I saw Minnesota Fats shoot an exhibition game, and got an autograph from Jim "Catfish" Hunter, pitcher for the '74 Oakland A's, which dates me pretty thoroughly.
In shooting circles, I've met J D Jones and Ken Hackathorn on several different occasions, Tom Knapp, the exhibition shooter for Benelli, and sorely miss the opportunity I once had to see Col. Jeff Cooper, but passed on it.
So- who have you met who's a "celebrity"? How was it for you?

Brett Hull was my hockey coach at summer hockey camp. It was right after he first went pro with Calgary. Got to meet his dad one night. Brett's an alumnus of my school and was doing an annual All-Star game they did. We had tickets on the glass and Bobby walked by. I asked for his autograph and he told me he'd be back in a bit. I figured he blew me off.
Next thing I know I hear "HEY KID!" and turn around and there he is, larger than life. He came into the stands with me and my mom. Did a bunch of pics and autographs.
Met a few other pro jocks, mostly hockey (obviously), but some baseball. Kent Hrbek is cool as hell. Jose Canseco back in the 80s was nice. Mickey Tettleton told me to go **** off.
Music/movies: Met Henry Rollins in October at LAX. We were both exhausted and waiting for the redeye to MSP, so there wasn't much chitchat but he was still really cool. Met a bunch of people from "Save Ferris" when they came out to talk to us while we were standing in line for their show. Got face to face with Mark McGrath that night too.
Politics: Talked to Sen. Coleman and Ollie North on the phone (at different times). Our illustrious Senator Klobuchaur was on the plane with me going to SanFran *puke*
I'd say let's see who all NYC Drew has met but he'd end up crashing the server.
Met Robert Redford once. Shook Richard Nixon's hand and that of Billy Joel as well -- not at the same funtion, though.
Grew up with Renee Zellweger, played soccer with her brother in high school and dated a friend of hers, a co-cheerleader in High School for 3 years. Waterballoon fights and party's at her parents house.
Country singer Johnny Rodriguez is a friend and was at our wedding.
Other than that I have met quite a few when in college working at a particular hotel.

Met Tommy Alderidge the drummer from Ozzy Osbourne at a drum clinic, my brother and I attended. Had beer with a band called Scatterbrain that was around in the 90's, dont know what happened to them. Dusty Rhodes(yea the American Dream baby), Nikita Koloff, and Arn Anderson, and Bill Goldberg, alot of the old or retired wrestler donate efforts to the Childrens Miracle Network, and from time to time they would show up at the hospital I used to work at. I also met Tony Boselli twice, once when one of his kids was born at the hospital and another time at the fair when it was here in town a few years ago, Tony is a big guy. And one year I got lucky and got backstage passes for Metallica, met those lunatics twice.
And if any you guys remember the Monsters of Rock tour?? It had Van Halen, Cinderella, Dokken, the Scorpions and Metallica, and some no name band that opened up. They needed extra people for the event and they were always going to the navy base 1/4 a mile away and asking people did they want to make a easy 100 dollars. I got in for free. I got to met Van halen, Metallica, and Dokken because a bunch of us got stuck in the backstage hallway area to keep fans out. and got autographs from Kiss.
I used to be into heavy metal alot....

In the mid 80's I helped a charity event held in a little church close to Greenville. My friend had a "light show" gig going with the local bands. Anyways we donated our time and light show (really just coffee cans with colored gels hooked to regular house light switches) to the church. Dizzy Gilespie, and Doc Severen were playing to raise money for sick children. Before they played we all ate a meal together. I got to break bread with them, I'll never forget asking Dizzy to pass the salt and pepper,

I wanna hear how NYC Drew has met too.........the list would be good........
The boy's got connections.........several of 'em!!!
Mr. T and "The Fridge" when I was a kid living in Chicago. Both were nice and it was cool for me as a 6 y.o.
John Stockton-his kid played in my little brothers soccer league. Very polite and nice just talked about normal stuff your every day Joe would.
Jeff Hornacek-used to shoot hoops with him as he lived across the street from my friend growing up.
Walter Cronkite (Grumpy old man who yelled all the time and seemed confused), Angela Lansbury (very nice) and Marie Osmond (thinks shes the big shiz) at a waiter gig.
At Mardi Gras during the 90's I saw Drew Carey up on a balcony, and hung out and chatted with a few players from the Green Bay Packers as we walked along Bourbon Street. I also met quite a few of the New Orleans Saints players when I went on service calls in the upper class neighborhoods.

Yeah I just met him in October at the Big Sandy Machine Gun Shoot in AZ.
He was there filming a segment for his new show "Trigger Time".
A guy had brought an M18 Hellcat tank killer and Ermey was there to interview him and shoot the big sucker!

I've met or done shots with a lot of "famous" musicians and I've had the liberty of warming up for several well-known bands.
I met David Copperfield once when I was young and he seemed ok. Will and Jada Smith are extremely nice people. Tina Majorino (Deb from Napoleon Dynamite) is a friend of mine and I didn't even realize who she was for the first three months I had contact with her.
Just recently I was on a flight with Cedric the Entertainer. Oddly enough, he was flying coach and he had a terrible seat way in the back by the bathrooms. In-flight nobody noticed him (myself included) but once the plane landed he was doing the pictures and autographs bit at the baggage-claim area.
On that very same flight I was sitting directly across the aisle from Eddie Vedder's next-door neighbor. I know he is legit because he scored me backstage Lollapolooza tickets and introduced me to Mr. Vedder.
It's a small, small world.
When my band was touring a lot I ALWAYS made it a point to have a couple of our EPs with me no matter where I was. I can't even begin to tell you how many radio personalities, record label employees, promoters and celebrities I randomly met... And usually in the oddest of places.

Met this woman once at the airport lobby.
Oh yeah, met Donnie and Marie Osmond many years ago.
Sonny Barger, but he's more infamous than famous.
In his capacity as a driver for first Airborne Express and then DHL over the past 18 years my brother has met many famous people.
Probably the most famous was Mick Jagger who he met on a street corner in Seattle, and while they both waited for the light to change, he talked with him for a couple minutes. His best story though is when he met Rebecca De Mornay for the first time, and she bared her breasts.
It was just before they were going to start filming The Hand That Rocks The Cradle.
I got to meet the cast too, but I think I was most thrilled to meet John De Lancie. Q from Star Trek.
chowchow, i would have said, *squirt*.
i met Jeff Daniels briefly back in the day when Gettysburg came out. Saw Yasmeen Bleeth in a local store once, and she looked pretty much like her mugshot.
all in all, there are FEW celebs that i would be actually impressed to meet, and most of those few aren't famous due to movies.
Eddie Albert, James Sikking, and Louis Gossett Jr, when I was a kid.
<--- attended a Frank St. Marseille hockey camp
<--- has met Brett Hull and Mike Modano many times
PJ, if'n you was skating when Brett Hull was with Calgary ... you are close to bein' an old carp.

BIG ****ING DISCLAIMER!!!
I've worked with, for, alongside, under a lot of people. The list below simply means I've at some point in my blessed carreer as sound engineer, stage manager, event producer/planner had direct or tangential contact with these folks. I'm not going to point out any of the folks I've worked with (as in, collected a paycheck), as they may or may not be comfortable with having their name associated with a mentally unstable Jamaican born naturalized American citizen who actually beleives in, and supports ALL of the BILL OF RIGHTS!
Destiny's Child (opened for one of my acts back in the 90's).
Earth, Wind, Fire
Keiko Matsue
Envogue
Keith Sweat, SWV,
All of the people who were at some point on Puffy's "Bad Boy" label.
All of the people who were on Jay Z's crew.
Ditto for Heavy D
Ditto for DMX
Ditto for Jah-Rule
Color me Badd
Alicia Keys
Spin Doctors
Space Hog
They Might Be Giants
Ok Go
Joan Osbourne

Roberta Flack
A couple of phil-harmonic orchestras :)
Every Jamaican act BEFORE 2000 except for Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Dennis Brown. Yes, every single one of them. Jimmy Cliff, Inner Circle, Burning Spear, Third World, Capleton, SuperCat, Beenie Man, Bounty Killa, Born Jamericans, Sean Paul, Wayne Wonder, Morgan Heritage, Mykal Rose...Luciano (not Pavarotti!), Maxi Priest, Diana King, Barrington Levy,
Cool & the Gang

Jeez...can I stop now?
Ok, for the celebrities....I've done a bunch of (direct) work with a few Hollywood "A" list actors, and some "B" list actors (gender intentionally neutral). I've also done a lot of tangential work for A and B list folks.
More than I care to name or to remember. Very few were / are genuine folks. If tou have seen them on TV or in the news, I have probably met them, and might consider asking for those precious minutes back.
This year I was called out of the blue to work with
They Might Be Giants (few dates and a short tour)
Ok Go (a few dates). This is the band with the popular youtube treadmill video
Sean Paul (a bunch of dates to cover for one of their guys)
which is outside and separate from my "regular" clients.
I've also met a few commissioners of police (hint hint), a LOT of mayors, maybe a governor or two, a couple of congressers, MAYBE a senator or three (none of them was female!!!), once shook hands with Bill Clinton (relax folks, once again, a part of the job!) soon after he left office. Most of the best folks I've met are the people who get the job DONE.
Cops provided for security detail
Tour bus drivers, etc.
This year alone I must have had 15-20 offers from cops who worked my shows to come back where they are and shoot (once we got around to talking about guns).
I've also met an INCREDIBLE amount of previous, current and future Playboy/Penthouse/etc models. Girls who want to be in movies. Girls who have offered to pleasure me so they can hang with my clients.
Some of my clients have done soundtracks (scoring, songs used, new lyrics) for some of the ...bigger/biggest blockbuster movies ...so I've been on one or five  movie sets (hated it, I do enough stand around dick holding at home as it is)
Maybe you should just ask me if I've ever come in contact with such and such an artist.
And yes, I've met ( on multiple occasions ) Kevin Bacon, so you are all now within six degrees of that.
Maybe it would be easier if I talked about places I've done gigs.
Ok - everywhere, including .gov places in Washington DC, and the United Nations in NYC (hated that too!)...damn near every country.
The places I've NEVER been to stick out in my mind.
Antarctica
North Korea
Vietnam
and a smattering of former soviet Bloc countries, a few countries in Africa, and one or two out in the sinio-pacific region.

August 19, I saw John F Kerry in the salt lake airport. I was on a lay over waiting for my flight to Spokane in the E terminal. He sat down right on the other side of the isle and people started walking up to meet him. I however moved to the other side of the terminal. I was worried that stupid might be communicable.

I ran into Joe Cocker in a hotel in Portugal in 1985. Didn't say anything to him
Sen Bob Kerry was briefly my seatmate on a flight from Omaha to D.C. in the late 90s....he moved before I could thank him for his service.
I got to meet Charles Barkley and shake his hand on a flight from Norfolk to Birmingham...I am 6'3" with some reasonably sized "paws", but his hand positively SWALLOWED mine...he's a BIG man!

At various times I flew on the same plane as Ted Turner, Jacques Costeau, and Ray Charles. I saw Robert Conrad in a hotel lobby in Dallas.
I've told this one before, but it's the best one I have. Back in the eighties, my boy friend and I used to run up to Virginia Beach a couple times a month and have lunch in this little dumpy bar/restaurant at 12th and Atlantic. They had a killer grilled fish sandwich - we'd eat, have a couple beers and head on back home. Sometimes we'd see a group of guys, clean cut, in good shape, kind competent looking/acting. Not always the same guys, but always the same look. Eventually we'd wave at each other across the room, never got asked to join them or anything.
One day we got there later than usual and the mystery guys must have gotten there earlier because it was obvious they'd been at it a while. Not loud or obnoxious, just loose and having a good time. When we came in, one, obviously the alpha dog, waved. We waved back. Not being opposed to showing 'em off a little back then, I was wearing a scooped neck t-shirt, and when the guy pulled out the neck of his shirt and bent over, I did the same. He laughed, I laughed, my boy friend rolled his eyes and laughed. End of story.
It wasn't until years later that I learned The Raven was a hangout for Richard Marcinko and Seal Team Six.

Been in Jim Oberwetter's house, but nobody knows who he is.
Been in Chris Lacey's house, but nobody knows who he is, either.
I met Dave Attell and Sean Rouse after a show. Dave was especially awesome. I was talking to him and the manager of the club interruppted, "I need to know where to send your limo, where you guys want to eat........" Dave looked at him and said "Dude, I'm talking to somebody" then turned around and finished his conversation with me. Helluvaguy and a good set.

LOL. I always like to see how the "other side" thinks so I would of spoken with him, see if there was a brain inside Frankenstein.
Whenever I encounter a celebrity, I pay them no attention whatsoever.
Believe it or don't, they don't want your attention or if they do, you really don't want to meet them. Honestly.
Give them a WIDE berth.

Oh goody, I'll play too.
1) Clint Folsom (his team won the 1991 Arca Championship NASCAR, Busch Grand National, ARCA and Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) Series. Drivers for the team included the late Clifford Allison, the late Stan Fox, Dave Mader, Stanley Smith, Steve Kinser and Clint.) His company also redesigned the Solid Rocket Booster seals after the Challenger tragedy.
2) Steve Kinser (of Sprint car fame), I got to meet him and his really friendly family (sit in their camper and drink water) for about 45 minutes one day. He's really a cool guy and his wife is teh hawt (go steve!!!).
3) Jim Massey (he put the medical waste disposal box on all hospital and clinic walls). He was a chief of staff for a lt. gov of TN.
4) Dane Miller (founder of Biomet, Dane Miller is really a nice guy)
5) Warren Haggard (one of the founders of Wright Medical).
6) John Romero and Stevie Case (I played Quake against John a number of times at the opening of Stomped.com's LAN center in Minneapolis MN, and talked a bit with Stevie, both were down to earth and nice people.) For a huge Doom fan, playing against John was a dream. I fragged him with the gauntlet in Quake2 from behind, wahahha! :)
7) Redwood @ Stomped.com, former co-worker of mine. Big huge guy with a crazy sense of humor.
8) Al Pacifico M.D. Pioneered the artificial heart and the process by which to replace a faulty human heart with a donation heart.
That's it, I'm out. It seems that most celebrities are pretty normal people trying to live life, at least the ones I have met so far have been down to earth.

I've met a ton of celebs here in North Idaho, when I was a concierge manager at the CDA Resort in college, it was my job to check in the VIPs and celebs. Pierce Brosnan was a jerk, the list is lengthy but I would have to say the most memorable was spending a week with Jack Hemingway.
I upgraded their room to the posh 2500sf suite for another week so they would stay, they would come down one floor to the concierge club room to play cards. I recall chit chatting with Jack about fly fishing and his showing me the bullet wounds the Germans gave him during the war, his telling me all about how they snuck booze from castles they raided, being in captivity, and his father (Earnest Hemingway) forming an armed band of journalists trying to rescue him after his capture. (read Hemingway Goes to War)
He told me that the Germans knew who he was and took excellent care of him as they loved his father's writings. A genuine guy with a big heart, no celebrity arrogance or anything, sorry that he is passed as they had planned to come back up and fish with me. Every night when I closed down the concierge club room, he would call me right at 9pm to invite me up for drinks and cards. Best darned fella a guy would want to meet.

Said it before on here, but a friend of mine worked the front desk at a resort outside Grand Rapids, MN. One of their guests a few summers ago was William Petersen, aka "Grissom" from CSI/"Will Graham" from Manhunter.

I used to drive a cab in the Atlantic City area. At the time, R. Kelly was playing semi-pro basketball with the A. C. Seagulls.
I picked up the team's entire starting five at the Hampton Inn one day, and was driving them to the Hamilton Mall. The singer was sitting in the middle of the back seat, and of course I recognized him.
One of the other players exclaimed, "Don't you know who you gots in yo cab? Dis R. Kelly!!!"
I looked him right in the eyes through the mirror and said, "Nah, I don't follow sports."
He looked crushed. The other four players laughed at him all the way to the mall.

All this is SMALL-TIME stuff:
I will relate a tale from a friend of mine.
While working in an engineering office, my bud and some of his friends got into a discussion much like we are having here.it was the usual stuff: Jack Nicholson in a cab, etc. etc.
An older engineer came by and inquired as to what the discussion. When asked if he had a "brush with greatness" he replied, "Well, I did get kicked on the ass by LBJ once"
When pressed, he related that once in the 1950's, he was working on a security system in some government offices in Texas. Busy at work and deep under a desk, he heard an individual enter the office and bellow, "Get outta here!".
The engineer allowed as to how he would be finished very shortly at which time the individual walked over to the desk, gave the engineer a swift kick in the pants and said "I said get outta here, G*D D*MN it !!" The engineer backed out from under the desk to find that he has been ousted by future-US President Lyndon Baines Johnson! :eric:
My bud and his co-workers admitted defeat.

I once was in the same Red Lobster as Babe Winkleman, the fishing show guy. But he was with his family, so I let him eat in peace. I guess he was there in springfield for something at the bass pro shop, I can't recall what it was but there was some event they were holding.
Did Yasmeen look all cracked out like in her mug shot?
yep. my buddy didn't believe it was her.
forgot to mention, i did a meet and greet with about 20 other people with Ted Strickland, when he was running for governor. hell, there might be a picture of me on a website somewhere shaking hands with him.
things that stick out there were...all the BS (he was talking with our IT team about 'mother india,') all the makeup he had caked on, and how unnaturally long he held my hand while shaking it. i realized after it was for the picture op, but still find it creepy.

I met Lily Tomlin once.
Jean Stapleton
Robin Curtis
Phone conversation with Linwood Dunn (Special Photographic effects pioneer.) A celebrity to me. All seemed nice.
Frank Whaley and Jenny Robertson when I co- photographed his sisters wedding.
NYCDrew's post made me remember something I forgot to put in my original:
If you want to have sex with a lot of women, start a band and play whatever kind of music is trendy at the moment.
My band got to open for the Bad Boys of Rock tour over the Summer and let me tell you, it was EXACTLY like you read/hear about on VH1s True Hollywood Story.
Another interesting note... I've found that most Christian artists are the most genuine people around EXCEPT that their image tends to be pretty flaky. I've witnessed some of the biggest names in Christian rock snorting cocaine and taking groupies to their buses.

I've heard and read the same exact thing about many of those so-called Christian bands. Funny how they can sing the gospel on stage and look like angels, then go snort a line after the show eh? That's why I haven't given a single penny for any "Christian" music or listen to any of it. Nothing but posers and hypocrites capitalizing off of religion (God) and I'm not helping them do it. It wouldn't be too Christian of me, would it?

In the early 90's I was Ron Jeremy's stunt double........but seriosly, I used to be a sodajerk at this Soda Fountain and Then Texas Gov. Ann Richards was there doing a speech on historic building preservation..I made her a chocolate soda..and then right after Bill Clinton got elected Chelsea Clinton was in town for a Ballet thing at the Paramount Theatre. Her, her friends and a bunch of Secret Service guys came over to the soda fountain .This was back when she looked like Chewbacca with braces, around 1993 I believe. Girl's finer than a frog hair now....And then in Paducah, Kentucky at a truckstop in 1995I met Brooks&Dunn when I was a truck driver....and once when I was in the looney bin I met a guy who said he was Napolean, but I'm feeling much better now..
My cousin is the guitarist for Maroon5.
Speaking of cousins, the most famous person (well, the only famous person) in my family is one of my cousins, Ali Landry. I wouldn't call her "famous" but she is celebrity status now.
Most remember her as the Doritos girl but she started off modeling here in Louisiana and is now taking movie roles. I haven't talked to her in years, but from what I've heard through family Hollywood pretty much owns her now so she doesn't have much free time.

Was catching a redeye from LAX to Boston with the wife and I noticed two chicks standing on the other side of the ropes with what looked like two security guards in suits. I kept seeing camera's flash so I nudged the wife and right as I was pointing to them I realized one of the chicks was Steven Tyler wearing white see-through pants with flowers on them and some crazy hat. Wife walked up but the security guard said that they weren't taking any more pictures so we sat back down. Couple seconds later Steven Tyler waved my wife over and had the security guard take a picture with my phone.
Living in Vegas, celebrity sightings aren't uncommon. Carrot Top goes to the same gym I do. I've seen Penn Jillette at Target and I once sat in front of him at a rock concert.

also, I've at least shook hands with all of the late night TV hosts, all of the network morning talking heads in the top 20 cities, pretty much all of the national radio personalities from 1997-2003...
None of them matters. Their opinions don't matter, their positions don't matter. For the most part, the only thing that matters is what my mom, my wife and my kids think about me.
Especially my mom, since she was "aware" of my existence before even I was.
And especially my kids, because apart from what I say, the things I do might one day have a great impact on them.

I don't remember it, for I was too young, but... My mom used to be friends with a family who was also good friends with Isiah Thomas's family. One evening, the Thomases were over at this family's house...and they also invited my mom and I. I had dinner with Isiah Thomas...but while he was still at IU.
I've met Hunter Smith of the Colts a few times, sat next to him in Church a few times as well.

I met Bob Denver once.
Whenever I encounter a celebrity, I pay them no attention whatsoever.
Believe it or don't, they don't want your attention or if they do, you really don't want to meet them. Honestly.
Give them a WIDE berth.
You'll both be happier for it
I have met many and spoken with many and couldn't agree with you more.

Just one...
Robbin Williams at the Tides Restaurant in Bodega Bay. I was on my way out and noticed him.
He was sitting there unnoticed with a hat pulled over his face when I recognized him.
He looked up at me and begged with his eyes that I don't say anything.
I just winked and left.
That is all.

I met George Takai and chatted with him for half an hour while he was signing autographs. One of the nicest guys I've met.
I met the entire cast of Lost in Space. (except Guy Williams)
I met Michael Dorn.
I met Bruce Campbell and got a picture with him. Shook his hand.

Pierce Brosnan - Got into the same elevator as him at London Gatwick Airport {also happened to be the day I left England permanently}
Michael Palin - Was doing a book signing at my local bookstore when I was in England {He was in Monty Python, most will probably remember him as the guy behind the counter in the Dead Parrot sketch, he actually writes travel books now}
After pinning him to the wall, I snarled into his ear "Do NOT grab people you don't know, they may be bigger and meaner than you think...")

-Roger Penske. Met him briefly at the Indianapolis 500 in '90.
-Stevie Smith from World of Outlaws sprint car series. We're both from PA and chatted for a few minutes. Nice guy.
-Karl Kinser from WoO. Looked like he was having a blast signing autographs and meeting fans after the race.
-Sammy Swindell from WoO. Grumpy when he doesn't win.
-Bob Hoover. One of the best pilots who ever lived.
-Pappy Boyington. Grouchy. Obviously didn't want to be at an airshow signing autographs.
-Tim Belknap. He was a top bodybuilder in the 80s. Met him backstage at a local show where he was guest poser. Humble guy - someone told him where his private warmup room was, and he took exception to it, saying that he was a guest and the show was about the competitors.
-Gus Rethwisch - "Buzzsaw" in "Running Man". He was promoting a couple bench press meets I lifted in back in the mid 90s.
-Cliff Branch of the Raiders. Little guy, couldn't have weighed more than 155.
-Greg Cox - safety for the 49ers. When I was in court security, he was in custody and appearing in court for not completing a drug program.
While they were still relatively unknown, Metallica was headlining at a small venue. I bumped into Cliff Burton, literally, as he was walking through the crowd when the opening band was playing. The music was too loud to speak with him, but I got to shake his hand.
I forgot one:
Kary Mullis!
Who you say?
Let's see which one of you is Mr. or Mrs. Smartypants and knows who Kary Mullis is (without googling it)!
He had some creative thinking strategies for sure.
nascar's Clint Bowyer raced at our local dirt track before he went where he is now. When they are in town for the races he always comes to the track to see us.
Did a extra part in a movie with Jeff Bridges,,,my roomate and I ended up going out drinking with him. He made us promise that we would not tell anyone who he was. BTW- he really got drunk too.

WILLIE NELSON...
Check these circumstances out:
I was playing in a band from Seattle, went to Ames Iowa to farm Aid on a Cuervo Tequila battle of the bands "final" and the bass player in this band was making a real ass out of himself at soundcheck, pissing everyone off.
After the bands played we all got to get our photo taken with Willie and when the bass player was fighting with everyone over where he wanted to be in the photo, I said to Willie that "I can't take this guy anywhere"...
Willie looked at him with disgust and said to me...
"You should shoot him!"
Classic stuff... A very funny moment.
At almost the same moment in time I was meeting Henry Rollins, a buddy of mine from here was meeting Charles. He said CB just walks up to him and goes "HI! I'm Charles!"
Actually Red, he said "Hi, I'm Charles Barkley."
7 seconds lateer, I looked at my blackberry and read
"PJMN: OMFG, I jsut met Henry Rollins!"
Charles was hanging out in a certain stripclub that is in my city. I was doing a walkthrough there, since there is about three fights a night. Also there, I have met Coolio, Allen Iverson, most of the Nuggets, a portion of Pantera \|||/ and a few others.
Coolio was really cool and talked to me about my job for like an hour, with a joint behind his ear.
Charles Barkley was very matter of fact about everything he said and very polite.
Allen Iverson is a dick and I ghost rode his security guy out the front door and fed him the trunk of someones car after he started like three fights.
I later stopped Iverson for around 30 over in his Maybach benz on dubz.
Champ Bailey and most of the Broncos.
I saw Tiny Lister Jr. get in a fight with three mexicans at universal studios in CA like 7 years ago. They weree following him around and talking **** to him after they recognized him as Debo from "Friday". He beat their collective asses then was very nice to the cops that showed up.
Sinbad came into a Chili's I was in and sat next to us with his big ass family.
My pops took me to a street in the San Fernando valley in the early eighties where they were shooting an episode of Knight Rider. I met the Hoff and he picked me up and set me in the drivers seat of the interior set-shot K.I.T.T car they had on site. :hearts:
I grew up with "Squintz" from the Sandlot, Chauncey Leopardi. We were best friends and lived in the same crappy L.A. apartment complex as kids. Same with Michael Faustino, David Faustino's little brother (Bud Bundy, Married with Children.)
I was on two episodes of Nickelodeon's "Wild and Crazy Kids".
Tom Selleck used to own a house here. One of our guys went to an alarm there one afternoon, was checking the perimeter, rounded the corner and came face to face with Tom Selleck himself. Said he was a real nice, low key guy. He was having a problem with the alarm system, and thanked the deputy for responding.

I would have paid you tens of dollars if you'd walked up to the Mexicans and gone:
"Daaaaaaaaaaamn!!! You got knocked the **** out!"
Ok, I'll play too.
Around 1984, I was at a political fund raiser in VA, met Bruce Hornsby, got to talk with him while walking around. He was a nice, regular type guy, when people started recognizing him, he left.
I was on the set for Sudden Death and got to meet Jean Claude Van Damn, he wasn't real nice to the little people.
I was on the set of A Thomas Crown Affair, met Pierce Brosnan for a minute, he seemed like he would be cool to hang out with.
Met Kenny Bernstien at the Houston airport while waiting for luggage, both of or bags didn't come out after a flight. He was really cool.

Sunday morning!
I have met my share of celebs in the course of working in clubs around Orlando in the 80s.
Saw Bob Hope a couple times. Genuinely nice man.
Robert Plant. Extremely cool guy.
Pointer Sisters were in our hotel when they won the 2 Grammys back about 85. I talked to Anita. She was very nice.
Larry Holmes. Large man.
Walked through Gloria Estevan and Miami Sound Machine while they were checking in. Didn't realize who the were until later.
Hung out with Neil O'Donnell, Ricky Proel and a couple other NFL guys for a function with Xerox. Neil was a very cool guy.
Saw Billy Joel and Christy Brinkley when they popped into my club one evening. They had been at WDW all day and she still looked awesome. He's really little.
Worked with Karen Kim a bunch back when she was an NFL cheerleader. She went on to be in a couple sitcoms and some B-movies.
Ran into Ron White in the Charlie Daniels Museum in Nashville. He's friggin HUGE!
Shemane Nugent. Major hottness.
My wife deposed Van Damme during the civil case about him raping some chick. Also Florence Henderson on something unrelated. She said she was really nice.
Reggie Jackson worked at the same place as I did. He's a major ass.
Joe Montana, Gene Tunney, Lou Holtz, and a couple others I'm forgetting. They all had a relationship with my old company and were around quite a bit.

Thanks to my work in TV (in college, then as a staff photog)...
George HW Bush (Bush 1), interviewed him with my reporter at A&M.
George W., once in person for a few seconds, many times afterward at waving distance (getting off Air Force One and getting on Marine One, or the reverse)
Tony Blair and Vladimir Putin, same distance i.e one of the press herd.
Ginger from Gilligan's Island during a interview shot for a book of poetry she wrote (she hasn't aged well)
Nelson DeMille (author of The General's Daughter, among others), got an autographed book (Plum Island, the interview was for that) out of it.
The American guy (not the one who found it) who dives on the Titanic. Saw pieces from the Titanic, no glass, from about 1 inch away, which was cool.
The two girls who were prisoners in Afghanistan, freed during the invasion, interviewed along with my reporter in a private interview (turns out they went to my church).
Iris Chang, author (now dead)
Rick Perry (governor of Texas) as well as Tony Sanchez (who tried to buy his way in.....I didn't care for him).
Quite a few others, can't think of them all right now.
I've met several pro baseball/football/basketball players in malls and airports, met the 80's band Stryper and a couple years ago met several members of the 'ER' cast when they shot an episode at my work, for those of you that watch the show a couple years ago the character 'Sam' went to a prison to visit her ex-husband in an episode. In the show it was supposed to be a Colorado prison but was actually Utah.

I would have paid you tens of dollars if you'd walked up to the Mexicans and gone:
"Daaaaaaaaaaamn!!! You got knocked the **** out!"

I think we may be related.
Will he be there when the last teardrop falls?

I am absolutely jealous of that.

PDog and I work with dozens of celebrities with our foundation for the troops and we will only work with them, if they are there for the troops and not for themselves. It's a tough job, but someone has to keep these people in line...

A friend of mine ran the front desk of a resort outside Grand Rapids, MN. One week William Petersen (Grissom from CSI/Will Graham from Manhunter) stayed there. She said he was one of the best guests they ever had and never once brought up being a star.
Most of my encounters have been pro hockey players due to where I live/go to school. Meeting Bobby Hull when I was a kid was friggin AWESOME. We scored front row tickets to a hockey all-star game here, and Brett was one of the players. Bobby was a coach and walked right past me. I asked for his autograph and he said he'd be back in a little bit. I figured he was just blowing me off and I was pissed.
Next thing I know, I get a tap on my shoulder and hear "HEY KID!"
I look up and it's him. He asked me about playing hockey and some other stuff. He took pictures with us, signed autographs, and chatted with me and my mom for probably 5-10 minutes before he had to get back.
After that my mom almost had to tranquilize me to calm me down.
Tully Blanchard (former pro-wrestler) - Talked to him for a good bit after he spoke at the church I attended when I was younger
Ralph Friedgen (Maryland Football coach) - Had a couple of beers with him catching a late flight out of Dulles airport. Nice guy!
Dana Allison (former MLB pitcher) - His dad was the head pro at a golf course I was a member of, Dana happened to work with one of my friends, we ended up playing golf together quite a few times, he can CRUSH a drive.
Stephen Davis (former Redskins RB) - His wife worked at a supermarket in Ashburn, VA with my then-gf. He would stop by to talk to his wife at work and I'd stop by to talk to the gf, used to joke with him alot, he was kinda prickish at first, but after a few times seeing me, he relaxed a bit.
Cory Raymer (former Redskins Center) - He was a regular at a bar/club I used to go to, I walked up and introduced myself and told him he was having a great year, he seemed shocked that I knew who he was (being a center and all), talked to him quite a few times after that.
A few others, nothing super interesting. I used to pass the Redskins training complex every day so I got used to seeing star players driving down the toll road :)

Baseball:
Brian Moses, Twins C back in the 80s. The front staff at the Holiday Inn Metrodome told me to keep my eyes open because players who live out of town stay at the hotel over game stretches. A bunch of us ended up playing football in the pool and this one dude looked real familiar.
We went to the stadium the next day and shadowed the player's entrance. Turned out it was him.
Jose Canseco said hi to me. Mickey Tettleton told me to **** off when I asked him for an autograph.
Kent Hrbek was really nice when I met him.
I can honestly say I've met none. Now I've seen a few, but I just keep walking. I'm not going to go out of my way or treat someone any differently just because I've seen them on a tv screen, football field, stage etc. before. Now my wife has wanted to go to a few meet and greets but I always tell her she's on her own. Heck they wouldn't even be celebrities if it weren't for people like her. The whole thing just seems really silly to me.

Ozzy................ Now there's a fellow I wouldn't mind chatting with...........
........Understanding what he's saying, however, would be another matter completely.........................
...I'm pretty much with the hands off crowd, unless it was a work situation that required interaction........
Seeing one is interesting....., but what is there to say really..??? :dunno:

Since Ozzy dumped one doctor, his speech has gotten a LOT better. At the start of their show he was a British Bob Dylan. You couldn't understand a friggin word he said, but now that he's off some kind of med(s), he's a lot more understandable.

I once ran into Ray Davies of the Kinks in a hotel bar in Austin. He was drinking beer at 11:30AM and I was stopping in for a Coke before heading out with some friends (honest!). We wound up sitting with him instead, shooting the breeze and pounding brews until about 3 in the afternoon.
Nice guy. Cussed like a sailor and had the sophistication level of a barnacle, but a nice guy nonetheless.
