I am looking for a pellet gun for shooting rabbits in town. The Crossman that I have is not particularily accurate past 30 feet or so. Anyone have a rifle that works good? Or has anyone used the Aquila 22 ammo for this purpose? I tried some CB's last weekend at the range at 50yds and they were all over the place, maybe they would be better at 15yds...which is all I really need anyway?

I use a RWS M34 pellet gun to keep the local cat & magpie population in control. A .177 caliber/1000fps weapon, it does a number on the small stuff out to about 20 yards. Very wind-sensitive, however. Even a slight, barely felt breeze will put you into holding a cat head's width into the wind.

Id try the Aguila super colibris. For the distance you described, they would work just fine. Id practice with them first so that you could confidently hit the rabbit in the head, a shot to the body may be to weak to kill it in one hit however Im sure a head shot would do the job.

What's an assination? I though this was gonna be something kinky...

For assassinating deserving pests, I use the CCI Long CB caps. They seem to be slightly more accurate in my guns (shorter bullet jump to the rifling, perhaps?), and the long case feeds through actions much better than the short, stubby cases of other brands. They are a bit more expensive ($4-$5 per 100) than the others.

I sight-in at ten yards, and won't shoot critters past 12-15 yards with the CBs. Just not enough energy to do a humane job, IMO. A wounded cat doing the "floppy/funky chicken" on your front lawn, while squirting blood in all directions will get you a visit from the authorities in most areas; not to mention one of your victims running home while leaking important bodily fluids. Place the shot carefully to avoid problems.:)

Anyone have any airgun recommendations? The 22 cal pellets at 800fps seem to make sense for hunting rabbits. I'm just trying to figure out what brand and model to buy....any ideas?

Are you looking for a pnumatic pump or Co2? From what I have heard, the Gamo rifles are supposed to be good.

I use a marlin 39as lever action loaded with cb caps. I can fit 27
of these cartriges in the tubular magazine. I find the cb caps
are fairly accurrate out to about 20 yards in this rifle although like DJ NINER I try to limit any shot to 15 yards max.
It is nice to be able to fire quick follow up shots without taking your eyes of the "target".;I

I've taken woodchucks with this air-gun. It will take soft skinned animals like rabbit, cats, squirrels easily & stealthy.

Cat lover here... :(

It's a shame that Michigun considers cats as the "other white meat."
