Any idea of the current value and rarity of a Chinese M44 no importer markings dated 1955 looks like it just came out of the arsenal. All numbers match but no cleaning rod. Small ding in the finish where the bayonet was folded.

Actually it is a Chinese Type 53..I have one and they are usally in terrible shape if you have found one in good shape that is rare.
Mine had been modified by an importer many years ago, it is a tack driver great trigger completely reblued, modified stock. My guess of value would be around $125-150 if in as good of shape as you say, maybe even a bit more because not that many around anymore with the exception of some "parts" guns

Thanks guys. Due to back surgery I've put it up for sale, I'll be putting up all my long arms except what I'm saving for my 10 y/o. Dr. says after surgery anything heavier than a .22 and I'm likely to break loose all the spinal fusion. in my neck and upper back from recoil. I'm going to take my Dr's word since he shoots IDPA and 3 gun matches.

Bummer, maybe you need a recoiless rifle

Lucky I'll be able to shoot at all. Messed up my lower back 13 years ago, if it wasn't an absolute necessity I wouldn't have surgery again. But I'm learning to qualify to shoot off hand.
