Thought some AR guys could help me with this question... since these sights are based on AR15 aperatures...
I recently purchased and installed some tech-sights (dual aperature type) on my Ruger 10/22.
The website states:
TSR100 comes standard with dual apertures (.062) and is compatible with M16/AR15 apertures.
One is marked 0-2 and the other has no marking, they flip up and down relative to each other...
I'm curious what makes each aperature unique? Why is one for longer distances? Also why is it marked 0-2? 20 yards? The website has a diagram that says 50yd and 100 yd aperatures, so what's the 2 mean?
Thanks in advance.... Glock On!

If the Tech Sight has an AR aperture in it (sounds like it), the 0-2 is indicative of a range between 0 and 200 meters.
It sounds like Tech Sights is probably using the AR aperture because it is plentiful and cheap.
If this is indeed an AR aperture being used in a sight for a rifle chambered in 22lr, the 0-2 marking is probably of no consequence.
I bought one for my 10/22. I like it alot.

What could be the difference between the aperature for short range and long range, the holes look similiar in size...
Thanks again...

Q: What is the change of impact between the two apertures in the A2 sight?
A: Courtesy of XS Sights from their website (http://www.aosights.com/news.html FAQ #10)
...Comparing some of the rear sights available today there appears to be 3 variations available. The 1st style (and oldest) has a .014 offset. This gives a 2.52 inch shift in point of impact at 100 yards between the two apertures. The 2nd style has a .017 offset, which shifts point of impact 3.06 inches at 100 yards. The 3rd style has a .024 offset giving a 4.36 inch shift in P.O.I.
All of the points of impact shifts shown above are for the standard barrel AR-15/M-16 that has a sight radius of 20 inches. The shorter sight radius (14.5 inches) of the M4 carbine and weapons of similar configuration increase the amount of point of impact shift. The shifts for these shorter sight radius weapons are 3.48, 4.25, 5.96 inches respectively....

One hole is drilled slightly higher in the sight leaf than the other, so when you flip from one sight to the other, you are actually making an elevation adjustment. On the AR, the 0-2 would be considered the short-range aperture (for use from 0 to 200 yards), and the second one would be higher, to make a quick adjustment for use at 300-500 yards.

It's possible that it is the second, but I think the second one has a large peep for the 0-2 sight, and a smaller one for the second (long range) peep. It would be the oldest/first of the variations that used two apertures of the same size/diameter.
