Here's my current 1911 collection. Everytime I feel I'm done buying them, something else pops up. I have six more 1911s on my want list. Two of them are on order. I will then be out of room on my shelves and have all the models I want. Anyway, enjoy the pics.

What's funny is that even way back then he was talking about being done with buying 1911s.

Those grips are fantastic! I've always been a huge fan of well executed Celtic knotwork. Wonder if I could get her to do a set with Thor's hammer instead of a cross?

Sadly, my only 1911 for the foreseeable future is a lowly ACII, don't think it rates a set of Esmeraldas.

Sadly, my only 1911 for the foreseeable future is a lowly ACII, don't think it rates a set of Esmeraldas. While I'm probably the last person to offer any 1911 advice (I've recently had to sell my only one), I have to say that a well crafted set of grips can always be transferred to a better gun in the future. Why let your current firearm limit you, if you intend to make an upgrade in the future?

ETA: BTW, Giggity, those grips are beautiful. They suit that Baer perfectly.

Camera is most likely just fine. Lighting is the issue.
Try an area near a window, natural light is best, but you
do not want direct light shinning on the pistol. Take five
or six pics, all from slightly differing angles. The view on
your 'puter.

Workhorse describes it perfectly. I should of saved more and got a Custom Carry instead of my Loaded Park. I still like my Loaded, but it rattles a lot and isn't as accurate as I'd like. Still 100% reliable though. I won free grips from Larry Davidson (in pic below), but I prefer the look and feel of the OEM cocobolos now:

^ Nuthin' wrong with a Parked Loaded. It and the MC Operator are my two favorite production Springfields. Besides the Pro...

Shoot the snot out of it and fix it up or sell it off later.

FWIW, my Custom Carrys are not any prettier than your Loaded.

Workhorse describes it perfectly.

I say 'workhorse' because she did me right today...

In and out of a heated vehicle into 49 degree rainy air for most of the day had the whole gun soaked with water, not to mention getting rained on, dropping mags in the grass and mud.

It ate a little over 300 rounds of Blazer Aluminum and 100 rounds of Tula steel, for a hair over 400 flawless rounds today.

Yeah, It is their "boot sight". I think that is what they called it.

You may also notice the crappy job they did on the beveled slide stop hole. The slide stop in there now is different than the original as the original stopped holding the slide open on the last round. If I should ever send it back to Wilson I will have them make it look like a professional smith did it as opposed to a third grader with a file. Otherwise though it is a good gun.

Out of curiosity, what grips are those on the pics above? I think they look perfect on that particular model.

And as another aside, do they do custom work on Browning Hi-Powers too, or just 1911s?

My first 1911.While I don't have any personal experience with the TRP, from what I can tell you've made a great choice for a first 1911. I can say, it's a beautiful looking pistol (there's just something about a quality built gun in all stainless that makes me envious :wow:).

thanks! she shoots fairly straight . she rides on my hip most of the time.Good to hear. I'm a Glock man myself, but I do love a reliable/quality 1911 (especially one built for CCW, like your LB is).

I've often felt that the only thing lacking in a Glock is that John Moses Browning (PBUH) wasn't alive to invent it himself. Of course, then it would have twice as many parts and would be whole lot prettier. :)

Thanks, it hasn't seen much time out of the safe, those were the grips Larry Davidson made for my TRS but they just look right with the stainless! I like the VZ black cherry double diamonds too and go back and forth.

What's the final finish on yours going to be?

I really like it, I am normally a BIG Springfield fan. Was looking
at a few Operators, as I found myself wanting a railed 1911 for
home use. The quality of the internal parts and the fact that I
found serial number 4, I had to pick this up. Shoots great,
triggers has a clean 4# break. While this is my 1st DW, I really like it!

She's a sweet shooter.Eats anything I feed it.I have tweaked it a bit and have more future plans for it.Kind of a DIY project to learn on.
So far I have done the following:
Replaced all springs with Wilson Combat
Replaced FLGR with GI.
Carry Bevel
Undercut trigger guard
Flush cut slide stop
Shortened & rounded beaver tail
Installed and reshaped Wilson TS
Wilson MSH
Wilson 3 hole trigger
Ed Brown barrel bushing
Refinished with Alumna Hyde II matte black.
I want to change the TS to a Colt and the hammer to a round hole Colt.Maybe add some thin grips too.
