Merry Christmas. Nice lookin rifle. epsylum 12-11-2007, 21:04 Does this make it a Black Rifle Christmas? ;) BTW I have an M&P15T and like it. Algaroth 12-11-2007, 21:07 Very nice rifle. I can't figure out why M&P15s have their own appeal, separate from every other manufacturers, but they do. The finish on them seem darker than most, it seems. Or is it just me? They just look really black. Maybe it's the cool logo on the side of the mag well. I can't quite put my finger on it. RMTactical 12-11-2007, 22:00 You have a great wife. :) epsylum 12-12-2007, 12:21 Very nice rifle. I haven't noticed mine being any darker black than most other ARs and the logo is so fine it is not very noticable. Algaroth 12-12-2007, 13:37 Ah ok. So essentially, I'm crazy. :D FlyBoy007 12-12-2007, 15:09 You'll put your eye out. :0 Mine followed me home from a fun show 8 months ago, wife let me keep it, I also popped an Eo-thing on it. Tighten up the sights and put a drop of fingernail polish as reference marks, they will shoot loose as the factory did not use lock tight or tighten em up real well. My rear sight fell off seconded time at the range, lucky for me I was not in the field or it would have been gone, it fell off at the bench. Shoots great -100 % with now over 2k rounds (I reload) Enjoy epsylum 12-12-2007, 19:27 Also you might want to switch out the extractor buffer to the black one and get an extra power extractor spring. Mine has been 100% ever since and it was only like $5 (I bought them off a buddy of mine who has tons of spares of them). I wish I could buy my wife a Glock as a legit present for Christmas every year. I did buy her a gun for Christmas one year, but she had asked for a carry gun that year... steve1911 12-14-2007, 00:04 Very nice rifle. 1911club#410 Mark G26 12-16-2007, 19:36 Also you might want to switch out the extractor buffer to the black one and get an extra power extractor spring. CW Mock 12-17-2007, 20:59 For a sling, talk to RM Tactical - he has all sorts for good prices. After Christmas, I'll probably be getting one of his. (Have to see what Santa leaves me first). Mark G26 12-22-2007, 13:47 Took it out this morning and it shot and cycled perfectly- very sweet to shoot:perfect10: http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s90/mark9481/100_0101-2.jpg GLOCKMASTER 12-23-2007, 07:02 Great looking rifle. Did you Loc-Tite the sights? Mark G26 12-23-2007, 07:24 Great looking rifle. Did you Loc-Tite the sights? Not yet...... nothing loose GLOCKMASTER 12-23-2007, 09:07 Not yet...... nothing loose They may have started putting Loc-Tite on at the factory by now. I doubt it. I have shot the sights loose on three different S&W MP 15's. I have seen the sights fall of another rifle. Might be worth doing it now to prevent it falling off during a trip to the range. They are good rifles and shoot well. However they have had some growing pains with small issues such as this. epsylum 12-23-2007, 14:11 They may have started putting Loc-Tite on at the factory by now. I doubt it. Nope...But in my current position I have had the opportunity to be around some shooters in classes that used them and I have put a lot of rounds through a couple. thisismyglock 12-24-2007, 04:21 Have fun! Shoots great -100 % with now over 2k rounds (I reload) Enjoy Well, I was outside shooting today and the rear site came loose even though I checked them before I began. Ran 500 or so rounds and came back to lay it down and noticed it was missing the left side the screw goes in to. :steamed: Very glad I did not loose the site or the screw. I should have listened to you! I going to complain to S&W about this and hope they will provide replacement piece w/o charge. Also, my gun did not come with a front site tool. Does S&W have the site tool also? I would have though it would come with the gun. Instructions make it seem like no tool is needed to adjust the front site after you depress the spring???? Called S&W and they are on vacation until 1/4/08. Figures. I just hope S&W has the part and tool I need...... Otherwise the rifle shot great! Looking at getting a M&P 15T, and I'm interested to see how S&W handles all of these "small" problems. I have several Colts, but I find the 15T very compelling. BTW, Mark G26 - love that holiday pic of your blaster. Good stuff. Mark G26 12-29-2007, 23:39 Subscribing .... BTW, Mark G26 - love that holiday pic of your blaster. Good stuff. I will post how S&W handles my rear sight issue and see if they also send a front sight tool. Other than this small problem it is a great rifle! No other issues at all. The 15T is a great value considering all the extras you get. Speed Racer 12-30-2007, 08:48 Thanks Mark. I agree - the value of the 15T is unbeatable. One of my Colts is a "banned" 6731 Match Target that I'd like to have converted to the 15T's style of upper, and it costs about as much as the entire 15T to make that happen! lol As I read older threads, I see that S&W has brought their M&P15 line in house, and that S&W is using more and more LMT parts in the guns - including LMT's entire bolt/carrier units with their improved extractor. I really like the sounds of that. S.R. Mark G26 12-30-2007, 09:20 I will post how S&W handles my rear sight issue and see if they also send a front sight tool. Mark G26 01-03-2008, 17:41 Where can I find a front sight tool for the M&P 15T folding Troy front sight ? Tried the key looking tool from Brownells and it does not fit.. Thanks, Mark S&WM&PAR15T&G34 01-03-2008, 18:29 Mark, You should of gotten a front sight tool with the 15T. Just so you know mine didn't come with one but S&W sent one upon request. Mark G26 01-03-2008, 18:54 Mark, You should of gotten a front sight tool with the 15T. Just so you know mine didn't come with one but S&W sent one upon request. Can you post a picture of it? If not, no big deal. Does it look like a key? I will request one when S&W reopens Monday.... I looked at the troy front folding sights and the post do not look like ours- see http://www.mattdtactical.com/TROY-FOLDING-FRONT-SIGHT-M4-BLACK_p_13-230.html- I also tried a A2 sight tool a friend had and the prongs were too big/wide.... Plus, S&W owes me a left rear sight screw plate that fell of while shooting- sight came loose and left plate fell off. I will get it right one of these days..... epsylum 01-03-2008, 22:51 Mark, You should of gotten a front sight tool with the 15T. Just so you know mine didn't come with one but S&W sent one upon request. I too didn't get one with mine. I just sent S&W an e-mail asking for one (provided my serial number in the e-mail as proof of ownership). Hopefully they are as responsive to e-mails as Springfield is. S&WM&PAR15T&G34 01-04-2008, 08:29 Sorry for the delay in posting the picture Mark G26 01-04-2008, 19:28 Sorry for the delay in posting the picture Looks like the one Brownells sent me that they say fits the AK/SKS and S&W 15T but the post on the font site is too small to turn the post with the tool I have. Is this the S&W tool for the Troy folding front sight in the pics? BTW Thanks for the pictures! Mark G26 01-04-2008, 19:32 I too didn't get one with mine. I am pretty sure they will take of my problems next week... elderboy02 01-04-2008, 22:18 I have a M&P 15 also. I too had a problem with the rear sight falling off. I tightened it up before I started shooting, but it fell off. Oh well, I kept it off instead of putting it back on b/c I have an EoTech 512 on it. It is a great and accurate rifle though! Mark G26 01-07-2008, 18:25 I received an email from S&W this morning- they have shipped the part for the plate I lost on the rear sight. Here is what they said about the front site tool: Sent: Monday, January 07, 2008 12:29 PM Subject: RE: Rear sight came loose AR 15T - no front sight tool?? " I have the sight plate on its way, the front sight design has been switched to a mil spec sight, the adjustment is made by depressing the detent pin with a drift or a crimped shell case. We no longer ship an adjustmet tool." I called and he said that there is no "tool" for this sight. He said use a bullet to press in the detent and cover the sight post with duck tape and adjust as needed. I advised I have done this and was worried I would brake the post off if I used more force. He said he will send a shipping label and to either try again and if I broke the post off they would replace the sight or to just send the sight back to them and they would check it out and replace if needed. Pretty fast response considering they just opened after being closed for 3 weeks. Edit- the A2 sight tool I got from Brownels works on my 15t . Finally found the right tool! Received the rear sight replacement today.. Great service from both S&W and Brownells !! Mark G26 01-14-2008, 19:12 I'm in no hurry. I haven't had one for over a year. A few more days won't kill me. ;) Did you get your sight tool? S&WM&PAR15T&G34 01-15-2008, 14:16 Mark, Glad to hear S&W is taking care of you. I was a little shocked that they don't use a sight tool anymore. I just ordered another S&W AR this time it's the S&WM&PAR15A. I wanted a backup.
