problem with magazine

Just bought a slightly used Glock 23, with two magazines. With one, the slide locks open after the last round, or when manually cycled with this magazine empty. With the other mag, the slide NEVER locks the slide back. What's going on? Except for this failure to lock it open,is the "defective" mag okay to use?

Also, the fellow never sent in his registration card - should I just send it in myself?

Try replacing the magazine spring. That should take care of it. While it may otherwise function normally, it may also start causing failure-to-feeds.

99% of the time it is the mag spring. if that doesn't work, replace the mag follower, then check the slide stop lever for damage (but since the othe mag works, it should be the mag)
