I stripped the paint off and have since stained them black. I like the look of it stained better. I have replaced that stock with a set from Ironwood designs that really looks nice. Personally I like the traditional look best. Mike Crusher47 12-14-2007, 13:19 I love the traditional look myself much better too.....but already have 2 like that, so I figured to make #3 all black.....or get an AR-15.........nah, I'll stick with the AK's  jrs93accord 12-14-2007, 13:35 SSR-85C-2 http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m8/jamesrea_2006/DSC00238.jpg Saiga 7.62x39 http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m8/jamesrea_2006/DSC00242.jpg Saiga .223 http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m8/jamesrea_2006/015_15-1.jpg STG-2000-C http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m8/jamesrea_2006/012_12.jpg DJ Niner 12-15-2007, 02:15 Crusher47, I merged your two threads on this subject into a single thread. Buy a black set so you can dress it up either way. I prefer the traditional wood look, but both of my current AK's are done up all in black. The Yugo M70ab2, and the TGI 75. They look good, but I need to order wood handguards for the Yugo. Glockdude1 12-15-2007, 23:19 Nothing wrong with a Black AK-47. Glockdude1, how do you like that telestock? Is the AK's recoil impulse different feeling with that style of stock? More/less comfy to shoot, quicker/slower to mount, how is the height for using iron sights? TIA! Glockdude1 12-16-2007, 00:19 Sweet guns, folks! Glockdude1, how do you like that telestock? Is the AK's recoil impulse different feeling with that style of stock? More/less comfy to shoot, quicker/slower to mount, how is the height for using iron sights? TIA! I really like the tele stock. It is more comfortable to carry and to shoot since I removed the wood from it. It weighs about a pound and a half lighter now. The iron sights are easy to use with the stock. DJ Niner 12-16-2007, 00:35 Sounds like a winner! Thanks! Is that a VEPR stock? I didn't know they offered those as an aftermarket accessory. Or it could be an actual VEPR, but I haven't seen one of those in a while. 2. Is that a real ACOG? It doesn't look like a dual illumination model but could be one of the models without fiber optics. Or it could just be a clone. At any rate, nice looking AK. URSE 01-02-2008, 23:32 Judging from the RPK slant cut receiver I would say that is a VEPR . I have two( k x39, II .308) they are the shizzle! Damn shame that Robinson Armament screwed the pooch on their supply of VEPR's. Nice rifle mi amigo. LGCubana 01-06-2008, 05:50 VEPR K Fake ACOG This is one of my toys, that will never be sold. DaGroaner 01-06-2008, 11:01 Judging from the RPK slant cut receiver I would say that is a VEPR . I have two( k x39, II .308) they are the shizzle! Damn shame that Robinson Armament screwed the pooch on their supply of VEPR's. Nice rifle mi amigo. Robarms had nothing to do with it. Molot the maker of the VEPR was seized by Izhmash for 15.5 million dollars in owed royalties. VEPR will probably not see our shores again because they are very proud of their Saiga line and VEPR was their former competitor's product. Izhmash beat Molot and unless Izhmash can be convinced to manufacture and market VEPRs, which seems highly unlikely, it is over. I'd hold on to those VEPRs they are collectors items now. URSE 01-06-2008, 17:15 Actually before Molot was taken over they had already ceased shipment to Robinson. Molot placed RA on pay as you go credit because of delays in payments received. Robarms took orders for a full 18 months after the dispute started(by which time Molot was taken over). After which they pretty much told all of those that had placed advance orders "too bad". Judging by the way Saigas dribble into this country currently I'd guess there is more to the dispute than we know. Getting stuff here from Russia is a PITA. I can't even begin to tell you what it was like getting S-12 mags before domestic production began. I'd really like to hear Robarms side of the story. Remember Molot had a lot of problems at the time. That's why they're Izhmash today. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
