View Full Version : problem with guide rod
when I disassemble my glock 26 I have to practically rip the damn slide off of the reciever because the guide rod slips out of the little groove that it is suppose to sit in. I have played with it for the last hour disassembling and reassembling it to see if it does it every time and it does. The rod has actually made a deep gouge in the plastic reciever from when I remove the slide. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks;g
The half moon position on the barrel is for reassembly only. A soon as you place the slide back on the frame, the rod returns to it's normal position.

Whenever you put the slide back on the frame, push the guide rod end back into the half moon spot. That's only there for assembly, but if you don't fully seat it the steel plate will dig up the frame during assembly.
BTW, its supposed to slip out of there when its all back together. Normally that plate sits against the locking block, not the barrel. Also, are you sure you're putting it back together right? The end with the "hole" goes against the muzzle end of the slide.

The only internal part I've ever suggested changing on a GLOCK is the recoil rod assembly.
Buy a stainless steel rod assembly & I'm betting you won't have that problem any more. The end of the assembly that you're having troubles with is much thicker & smoother then the factory assembly.
I bought mine here:

Mine has factory springs installed as well.
