I recently emailed the mall in Bowling Green and asked their policy on CCDW. Below is the response. Please let them know your feelings as you see fit.

Bamafaninky

Mrs. Olson,

I thank you for your information regarding Greenwood Malls weapons policy.
I urge you to reconsider your position on not allowing firearms on mall
property. As a legal concealed carry permit holder I have undergone a
background check by the State Police, I have taken a course and demonstrated
that I can safely and skillfully handle a firearm. While I am sure you
consider security measures adequate for most situations you have knowledge
that I do not. You are simply asking me to trust that you have taken the
correct measures. When it comes to the safety of my family I can't trust it
to others.

I'm sure the mall in Omaha, Virginia Tech., Columbine and a host of other
gun free zones "thought" they had adequate security measures. In actuality
the only persons who will honor your "no weapons allowed" policy are law
abiding citizens such as myself. Until the point and time you learn that
legal CCDW persons are not a threat only to criminals I will be forced to
spend my money elsewhere.

Thanks for your consideration.

I am in receipt of your email below regarding security here at the
Greenwood Mall and would like to take this opportunity to respond to
your inquiry. The safety and well being of our shoppers and mall
employees has always been our number one priority. Recent events only
reinforce the importance of this priority. While I cannot discuss the
actual security measures we have in place at the mall, due to the risk
of compromising our efforts, I can assure you that we do have a
customized security plan in place. We also have a well trained security
staff as well as a close relationship with our local police department.
We understand that it would be impossible for any public establishment
to prevent all threats, but we do our best to minimize what we can and
to be prepared for the rest.

Regarding our weapons policy, we do not allow weapons (including
firearms) on mall property.

We truly appreciate receiving customer comments / concerns.

Thank you,

Heidi Olson, CSM | General Manager | Greenwood Mall | 2625

Comments: With the latest news comes another story of shoppers in a mall
who were not protected from a madman. What security measures do you
have at Greenwood and what is your policy on concealed weapons carry by
liscensed individuals?

Thanks for the information.

If you have a ccdw license, concealed means concealed. If they find that you're carrying, they can ask you to leave and give you a mean look. If you then refuse to leave, they can press trespassing charges. Big whoop. You can open carry with a note from your mom, and they can ask you leave and give you a mean look. If you then refuse to leave, they can press trespassing charges, though I suppose an arresting officer could (might?) think of other reasons to arrest you. Get on your hands and knees and thank the almighty you live in a free state.

I am sure that the mall has a "no thieving" policy and a "no peeing on the floor" policy. They should worry about enforcing those.

Though, I am sure that Heidi probably isn't a complete freaking idiot. Her insurance agent/lease holder/boss probably told her to say those stupid things in the letter.

I am not a lawyer and nothing I say should be considered to be advice.

But if you carry in the mall, by all means make sure your piece has green weenie sights on it.

I grew up in BG and use to go to the mall often. Not sure the security guards with Maglights will give much of a fight.

If it is your pocket or under a coat I wouldn't worry about it.

Ahhh, but their highly trained "Tactical Assault Ninja Force" is so good that you don't see them, they have "Digital Mall Cammo" be careful which urinal you use one of them may have blended in to the bathroom wall and they are so highly diciplined they will just take a hit for the mall.

Like Dom said just keep it concealed aand don't worry about it. It's their mall, their rules.

I normally don't hang out at the mall except for an occasional trip to Sears or Dunham's. I don't pay any attention to "No Weapons!!!!!!!!!" signs. I carry concealed and stay out of govt. buildings, bars and places with metal detectors. Don't let the signs bother you. Concealed means out of site.

Concealed is concealed... besides, the worst thing they can do legally if you get caught is ask you to leave.
