I've been casually searching for one for a while now. I think it would be a neat piece of history to own. What is it like to shoot/own? I want a WWII era one without a safety. Anyone got one they would let go of or know someone who will?

I just ordered a Soviet Tokarev with holster and comes with a cleaning rod and spare magazine. It is dated 1942 and was made by the Izhevsk plant. The photos below are of my Norinco Model 54. I have just ordered two more of these for $179 each. They are presently out of stock but more are coming in a month or so. When they arrive the two pistols will be sent to me. I should, however, receive the WW2 pistol in a fortnight or so.
Good luck with your hunt for the Tokarev. They are well worth it.

Looks like a bunch of TOK's got imported recently. You should be able to locate at least a Romanian version at Century or one of their middle men such as J&G or SOG.

It's an interesting pistol loosely patterned after the Browning M1911. The trigger pack is removeable as a single unit and the feed lips are built into frame. My Tok's are quite reliable but not as accurate as the CZ. It seems as if the Tok was designed to be expendable as they seldom survive 10,000 rounds of service without cracking. This is just a general statement from my experience with a lot of Tok's. Some are better constructed than others and will give much longer service.

The TT is a good pistol that handles the powerful 7.62x25 cartridge much better than the CZ viz 52 IMO. The sights a very good for a pistol of that era and although the grip angle is too straight, when shot with two hands is not noticeable. However because of the grip angle the gun points poorly for one hand shooting.

Aside from the Chinese models that have been non-importable in the USA for years, the Polish and Romanian models are easy to come by. The Polish made guns are better IMHO. Finding a Russian gun is going to be tough and expensive, I don't think they were ever imported as surplus or if they were, only in very low numbers. If you look hard you might find a bring-back from Korea or Vietnam. My best advise is to get a Polish gun and enjoy it (the Polish guns were made like the WW2 Russians as far as appearance, they don't have the post-war slide striations like the other TTs).

I don't own one, but I've fired a few. Nice little guns. I really, really like the 7.62x25 round.

Would you mind telling me from where you are ordering them? That is cheaper than I have seen before and I have a little Tax Rebate to "stimulate the economy."

Oh, no! Tax return! Thanks for reminding me. I'll get on that this week!

As far as the dealer it is Marstar.com in Ontario Canada. However, I am afraid they cannot sell to Americans due to the embargo against Norinco. The Soviet Tok came from P&S Guns and Militaria in Sherbrooke Quebec, Canada.
I am looking for a Yugo next and a Polish model also. A North Korean Type 68 would be the cats meow as they are as rare as hens teeth over here.

The TT-33 is one of my favorite shooters.

One of my favorites. I have the Chinese version with the safety on the left side of the frame.

They are super fun to shoot. The muzzle blast is great and the ammo is cheap as heck.

Buy one and stock up on the cheap ammo.
