Considered a City park or a State park?
I know that it's within the "White River State Park grounds", but is it operated as a seperate entity within?
Makes all the difference in the world as far as weapons carrying...
The Zoo's website says that "weapons are prohibited, including firearms".
BUT as long as the zoo isn't considered an Indy Parks property (which carry is legally verboten), then that listed prohibition isn't legally enforceable.
It is currently MY belief and opinion that it is a State entity and therefore completely legal to carry (concealed for me, of course) within the zoo.
What say youins?

"The Indianapolis Zoo inspires local and global communities to celebrate, protect, and preserve our natural world through conservation, education, and research, and by providing an enriching and wondrous environment for our visitors and the animals in our care.
The Indianapolis Zoological Society is a private 501(c)3 organization governed by a Board of Trustees."
Hope this helps

In the light of recient events, carrying a weapon to a zoo might not be a bad idea.

I'd rather confront a LEO wanting to see my pink permit than a 1200 lb.
Siberian Tiger while carrying at the Zoo.

Would it hurt worse to be killed and eaten by a siberian tiger or a lion?
A polar bear or a grizzly?
A shark or a crocodile?

Theoretically, the more powerful of the pairs would take you out quicker, thus less pain. So whichever ones are weaker would probably cause the most pain....so my responses would be tiger & grizzly....I think it'd be a much crappier death via a croc as they clamp down and then twist and drown you. I have heard death via drowning is a pretty crappy way to go.

Gah! This is why we need total preemption. It's completely ridiculous that we have to navigate this legal minefield to determine where we can carry and where we can't.
At least we got state parks back.

Write your senator and rep. We need full preemption and carry restrictions removed yesterday!

Well, if you want to get REALLLY technical, we were never legally dis-allowed from carrying there. It was just a DNR rule that forbade it...
But I completely and totally understand your point.

I wonder how dolphin tastes (the performing marine mammal, not the mahi mahi fish).
