Two weeks ago I purchased one of the Lone Wolf Distributors barrels for a G35, .40 S&W so I could eventually shoot lead bullets and have a supported chamber to boot. First time out on the range I took along some UMC 180 Grn TMJ, WW Ranger 155 grain SXT, and some Federal LE 155 grain to break it in some and smooth out the tool marks in the bore.
I had trouble with all the ammo. Mostly failure to feed. There were bullet noses jammed into the feed ramp, cartridge hang-ups at a 45 degree angle into the top of the chamber, and one cartridge even managed to turn around backwards and jam down into the magazine feed lips, nose first. :wow:
This happened with three different brand new magazines.
The chamber on these LWD barrels seems VERY tight. As time went on, and the chamber got slightly dirty (< 50 rounds) the FTF's got so bad it was happening with almost every round. I never got to test my lead reloads. Very frustrating.
I've called Lone Wolf and left messages, but they must be real busy this time of year.
Anyone experiencing the same issues? How did you deal with it? Return the barrel? Have someone open up the chamber some? I sure would have thought that LWD would have had these kinds of bugs worked out by now.
My G35 is factory stock, has had about 500 break-in rounds through it, and functions flawlessly with stock barrel, same factory loads, and same three magazines used.
