I might have the ability to buy a very slightly used Bobcat .22lr. Are these little guns any good or are they jammers?

Are these little guns any good or are they jammers? michael t 12-28-2007, 23:06 Keep clean and they seem to work. Like all 22 autos might only like 1 or 2 brands of ammo. I have 3 of the 25 autos but never bought the 22's I just perfer center fire. My 25 have been flawless . outlaw450r 01-06-2008, 21:04 I have the 22, it runs perfect and is quite accurate with good quality ammo. chance3290 01-09-2008, 08:50 If you pass on it, let me know. I had one and let it go several years ago. It was a good little shooter. blueiron 01-13-2008, 19:21 Mine is a jam-o-matic. Had it for 21 years and tried every type of ammo I could find. I use it to teach new shooters that smaller is not necessarily better. Moonfish 01-19-2008, 10:44 Mine does fine with the higher velocity rounds. I like the CCI stingers or mini mags. Sweet little plinker. http://inlinethumb30.webshots.com/39453/2150357330100900487S600x600Q85.jpg Mikeyboy 01-19-2008, 22:19 Moonfish, man that is sweet looking in stainless. One last question, Is the Bobcat drop safe? Its on CA restriced list. (Man it must stink to be in CA). While if I pocket carry I will most likely engage the safety. I'm assuming that if the hammer is down (DA mode) even with the safety off, the gun is pretty safe. If all goes well I might be picking it up this Friday. Or I might just drop a downpayment on a new Inox one:whistling: halfmoonclip 01-19-2008, 22:43 Moonfish, man that is sweet looking in stainless. One last question, Is the Bobcat drop safe? Do NOT carry it on halfcock. Moon engineer88 01-21-2008, 09:45 I bought one of these for my wife. It is what got her hooked on going to the range with me. She just went last night in fact. She loves her lil gun and put 250 through it last night. She hated the sights though and my brother did a bang up job with some oj and green model paint on the sights. It helped a lot. This is what I have found with mine: 1. It only likes stingers, it can cycle them all day. (may just be mine) 2. Lube/re-lube every 100 or so rounds. All my FTE have been after 100 rounds, once I started doing this, the FTx went away. 3. Oil it a lot. This is not like a Glock, it likes a ton of oil and because of the way the slide is made and all, it needs it. I like the trigger on the lil bugger and it is just a fun pocket plinker. You can't beat the cost of ammunition either! P.S. If you carry it, it has the 12# initial DA pull on the trigger, with the 2.5# follow-ups, so the safety is pretty redundant imo. halfmoonclip 01-22-2008, 18:31 I bought one of these for my wife. Good point on the safety; I actually filed mine down(it poked in my pocket) and never used it. High velocity ammo is the deal; mine wouldn't reliably feed bulk pack. Wish it had the sights from the Tomcat. BTW, if you want to perplex the unknowing, field strip it and ask 'where's the recoil spring?' I had a couple guys stumped at the local gunshop... Moon Southpaw69 01-25-2008, 02:54 I have one and it certainly won't do well with the bulk ammo. So far anything high velocity has worked fine in it. Also, my dad bought this pistol in the 80's when it was "approved" in CA, am i breaking the law by having this now? Not sure how that works. Dean 01-25-2008, 04:07 Crimson Trace makes a lasergrip for this weapon. The Bobcat/Tomcat. If I was after a pocket pistol I'd get a Walther PPK/S in .380 but to each his own. My deep concealment .22LR is a NAA 5 shot revolver. halfmoonclip 01-25-2008, 09:54 If a pocket hideout is what you want, the much smaller Beretta 950 series is a better choice. Get the .25ACP, not the .22 short (it bears saying that the .22 version makes a great trainer for the .25, and is lots of fun to shoot) and carry it chamber loaded hammer down. At the risk of stating the obvious, raise the barrel before you lower the hammer on both models. The tipping barrel on both models is a great feature for loading and making safe, but the lack of an extractor makes a tap/rack/bang drill impossible if you get a misfire. That is another reason to avoid the .22s for anything but plinking. Even better are the double action only pocket guns from North American or KelTec. I love PPKs too, but when you get to a Centennial size gun, might as well carry a Centennial. Moon wxl 01-25-2008, 17:37 My stainless also is very reliable after switching to mini-mags engineer88 02-03-2008, 16:34 Let's be honest. This gun fits a very small niche. It is a pocket plinker. My wife wanted something with an easy trigger, but no long barrel and not a revolver. This is a great gun to throw in one pocket and a box of ammo in the other, go into the woods and shoot pine cones or tree rats. :tongueout: My wife loves the thing, we are going again next weekend. She even told me that as one of her anniversary presents she wants the black pearl grips. Gotta love it! I will say it is nice and easy to strip and clean too. There is a video for it on youtube if you wanna check it out. I actually think I will get a Taurus PT-22 soon so that I can have something a bit cheaper for plinking as well and just so I can compare between the two. The less I spend on ammo, the more often I can afford to go to the range. waterdude 02-09-2008, 16:57 I love mine! I loved it so much that I justified selling my Ruger 22/45 to help offset the cost for my new Glock. Well maybe the G19 was the reason for that deal, but here in NC the largest caliber I can carry while hiking is 22lr and this is my weapon of choice. Don't get cheap with ammo, and keep it clean. Awesome little gun. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
