My wife and I took our CCW class back in late September. We have yet to apply for our CPLs. How long do we have before our class/certificate is no longer valid? We just haven't had extra money and we'll have to wait til the beginning of February.
iirc, it is good for a year.

As far as I know, you have a year. I will check the ccw app and see if it says anything. Jeff

I thought it was a year, but wasn't sure. All these news stories with mall shootings, church shootings etc. make me and the wife nervous about not carrying.

You live in Flint without a CPL? Get down to the county clerk ASAP!

Training certificates have no expiration date. The only way they become invalid is if the law changes and the "required wording" on the certificate changes.
Those that say it is only good for one year need to so me "in the law" where it says they expire.

Used to be. New certs have no expiration date, hence no expiration.

Don't know why you think this. My certificates, both the NRA Personal Protection Course and the HB 4530 compliant certificate, do not have an expiration date. Course taken after law passed before shall issue went into effect from future member of the gun board. License one of first 38 issued in Kalamazoo County under shall issue law. Certs as old as they can be. And they worked fine without expiration date.

When I took my class (November) the instructor said that the certificates were only good for six months.
My wife and I took ours during the summer and didn't get around to getting the fingerprints until Nov. The clerk's office called and recommended that we get on it, since the state was changing the billing system and it might screw things up if we didn't get it done.
Apparently there is something in the fingerprint system that flags the print info to be sent to the clerk's office once you have paid. If the info got messed up, no telling where the info might go.
Kindof late now though, since it's after the 1st. If you haven't gotten the prints, I'd suggest calling the clerk's office to make sure you are still ok.
