I decided to go for a CCF steel frame for my G34 rather than get a G30 for the time being. I got to handle a CCF frame today. I liked the overall feel, grip size and trigger reach. Tomorrow I will be swapping out the guts of my G34 frame to the CCF. Both back straps are coming with it so I can fool with that too.
Anything I need to know that might not be self-evident when swapping parts out? I saw on the CCF site that they recommend using a plastic guide rod and to not use a metal guide rod. Has anyone used a metal guide rod to good effect or is the danger of damage too great?
I can't wait to put my 6-port LWD barrel into that mix. Should make muzzle flip nearly nonexistent.

Did you get stainless or aluminum alloy? Please let me know if you have extractor problems. If you don't, let me know what cartridge you are using. CCF technical support recommended an old style extractor if problems occur. We tried an old type, but problem continues - using 100 gr. frangible. Still have not had time to go out to range with 115 or 124 grain.

I also am thinking about getting a CCF frame and making an open race gun with it. They are starting to pop up in a couple of places. Please keep us informed on how she shoots. I know you said you were going to put your 6port barrel on it...but what about a compensator? Are you going to try to load up to make Major?

I've been asked before to shoot competitively but that doesn't interest me. I just like fooling around with handguns and shoot passably well. I just want to see how this thing shoots and if it shoots well enough then I will "whip it out" on my other Army retiree friends who shoot with 1911s. They have been bugging me to get a 1911 in 9mm, this may be even better if reliability is there. I like to shoot steel plates for fun and this should make it even more fun. I like the grip circumference and trigger reach. If this thing works I may get another Advantage Arms conversion to sit on top of it if the AA conversion would work with this.

Update on long slide doublefeeds:
Shot 300 rounds in practice yesterday with 100 gr frangible - 4 doublefeeds.
Ran 100 rounds of 115 grain FMJ today with no malfunctions.
Then immediately shot 50 rounds of frangible and doublefed on number 23.
I'm getting pretty sure that it's the ammo. More updates later.

I got my CCF G34 to the range this past weekend. No MALFS with stock 34 barrel with 115grn WWB or 147grn WWB JHP. I didn't fire any "good" ammo yet. Supposedly there is a 500-1000 rd break-in.
I did try my LWD 6-port barrel in the CCF G34 and it had FTF issues with the 147 grain WWB, even though it appeared that the LWD barrel would lock up OK in the CCF frame. I am going to reserve judgement and try the LWD ported barrel later with better ammo and using a reduced recoil spring sans 2 coils as suggested by another member of Glock Talk after the recommended break in period.
I was looking on the Brian Enos forum and found several references to aftermarket barrels and broken locking blocks on CCF frames. I am going to proceed with caution with the CCF frame.
