Southeast Florida gets an Appleseed Shoot, February 2-3!

The Appleseed Project is holding an Appleseed Shoot in Myakka City, FL on February 2-3, 2008, Groundhog's Day Shoot!. http://www.appleseedinfo.org

Myakka City is @ 1 hour from Tampa/St. Petersburg, @30 minutes from Sarasota, and @1:20 from Ft. Myers. The Manatee Gun and Archery Club looks to be a great location for an Appleseed Shoot. There is camping available on site, and the folks at the range are super friendly.

This is a great opportunity to gain some valuable rifle marksmanship skills and meet some good folks.

The Appleseed Shoots spend the weekend teaching the skills needed to be able to shoot your rifle out to 500 yards (this range is limited to less than 300, but you still learn the same skills). They also reconnect today's rifle owner to the American Rifleman Heritage that has been handed down to us by our Founding Fathers.

These are family friendly shoots, with kids shooting FREE and Military shooting FREE (there is no course fee, but may be a range fee).

Appleseeds are inexpensive, informative and lots of fun. Check out the web site http://www.appleseedinfo.org, there will be over 100 of these Appleseed Shoots nation wide in 2008.

It is at the Manatee Gun and Archery Club http://www.manateegunclub.com/

The range fee will be considerably lower than their $18 per person per day, but the actual number has yet to be determined, my best estimate is $10-15 for the weekend course.

The Appleseed course fee is $45 for one day or $70 for both (I highly recommend both days!). These fees are the pre-registration fees, walk up fees are $5 more.

There should be room for 60 shooters, and there is camping available at this range.

Wow! A guy has a couple of "crack pipes' and all of a sudden, he loses his sense of direction:wow: I fixed it, thanks!

These shoots are a great time and this is our first for Florida since January 07. That shoot had over 100 shooters:supergrin:

We are looking at this location for several shoots in 2008, so lets get the attendance up. We also want to have a week long Rifleman/Instructor course there as well. Range management seems on board, just get to get the numbers to justify it:thumbsup:

Be sure to come over and join us, these Appleseed Shoots are a good time and draw some of the best folks.

We found another range up on the pan handle, so Florida may be coming alive a little for us. We are working on getting that shoot set for April 19-20, but the details are not available yet.

There is plenty of room at this location, and it looks to be a great range to shoot at.

Get a dose of "Rifleman Heritage" and a heapin helpin of rifle instruction. The price will get no better.
