What is a solid gun safe for your vehicle which meets Texas CHL requirements?

I wasn't aware of any requirements for your gun having to be locked in your car.

My understanding is that if someone brakes into your car and your gun is not properly "secured" you could be liable if that gun is used by someone, like a 13yr old kid.

They still have to break into a locked car. What will stop them from breaking into a locked case?

I think that as long as you keep your firearm concealed, and you keep your car locked... you're good to go. I could be wrong though.

I do however, know that you aren't held liable for something a criminal does if he takes your gun from your locked car.


I'm not saying it's not a good idea to have a locked safe in your car... I am just questioning whether it's illegal not to.
