This may be old news to some here, but I'd only heard of this lot in some Grassroots NC newsletters - never saw their site until tonight:

http://www.ncgv.org/legislation_home.html

(Warning: Exposure to site may cause uncontrolled :puking: by those that believe in self-reliance...)

Now, this is written AFTER Katrina...this really makes me :steamed:

The pattern is clear: the gun lobby encourages the "right" of as many individuals as possible to own guns and the necessity for individuals to protect themselves. They distrust government.

Yeah...ya think? Bunch of un-American, authoritarian, nanny-state worshipping....:soap:

BTW, they claim to be the reason there is no 'Castle Doctrine' in NC, and also the reason that guys like me that avoid alcohol like the plague can't CCW in a restaurant that serves booze.

I just re-upped for a year with Grassroots NC....are there any other State orgs to look into to counter the clout of these clowns?

While NC's castle doctrine law is not as relaxed as Florida's new law, they do have one, and it's not a "Duty to retreat" law either.

This isn't really a Castle Doctrine. There was a bill to enact a real Castle Doctrine but it died in session. A Castle Doctrine also prevents civil lawsuits when the shoot was justifiable. Here is the bill that died.
