Just looking for some opinions on the recoil of a G32 vs. a G19. I shot a G32 the other day with some range reloads and it was unbelievably light recoiling. The owner said the 124 grn. reloads had a velocity of around 1350 fps. This pistol also had a Seattle Slugger in the grip. Anyway, this pistol recoiled a lot less that the G23 I owned several years ago. Any comparisons to the G19 would be appreciated. Thanks, JohnH

The Seattle Slugger - I believe that is the correct name - is a brass weight that fits in the grip hole. It is held in place by a set screw that goes thru the hole where the layard ring goes. It also extends past the grip to facilitate reloads. The main purpose, is to add weight in order to dampen recoil. That's the way I understand it. JohnH

Seattle Slug
Look here, for info and ordering: http://www.seattleslug.2alpha.com/products/seattleslug.htm
I have a brass one (which I blackened to match the gun) in my G20 - works well.
I like the difference in weight and balance, as well as it speeding reloads.
Downside is that is adds weight (duh) and sticks out a little.

As for recoil, I find my G32 to have much stiffer recoil than the same gun with an aftermarket 9mm barrel.
Not painful, or difficult, but noticeably stronger.
Chances are that those reloads were rather light, rather than full power (no matter what the owner said).

I installed a Hearts Recoil reducing guide rod in my G32 that takes some of the bite out of the recoil. I also have one in my G21.

If you get a compact Glock, the very first thing you should do is deep six the factory guide rod and replace it with one made of steel.

The G32 is going to recoil more than the G19.

Don't be fooled by range reloads.

If you shoot defense grade 357 sig and +P+ 9mm ammo, you'll notice a sizeable difference.

Not a big deal for defensive shooting but it is greater.

the 357SIG in the same size gun recoils more than the 9MM. it's not painful or unmanageable, just faster and harder. spell that 'snappier'

duncan, Tall Terry, thanks a lot for the information. +P+ in my G26 is not bad at all in my G26, so I would imagine the Sig round is pretty manageable from your description. Thanks again for replying all. JohnH
