Hello blueshot3: The grips on the Model 64 are called Hideout Grips. They are nylon and can be had in smooth or textured finish. I worked the ones shown over with an engraving pencil to improve the "gripping" characteristics. I bought mine here:
http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/productdetail.aspx?p=9924&s=
They are inexpensive but this is the only pair (for K-frames) that I've had that actually fit the frame w/o being a tiny bit "loose" after the screw's been tightened down. I've experienced this only with the K's. The J-frames have fit very snugly on the ones I've used. I have fitted a pair or two using a tiny bit of bedding compound.
The K-frame versions work with speedloaders. The J's do not unless the grip is dressed down a little bit, which is what I've done with them in the J-frame size.
Best.
I only have 2 & no fancy pics, but here they are.

I was likewise inspired by a pic on another forum which was similar.
Immediately went and mailordered a set of Ajax mother of pearl grip panels, a Gemini Custom fiber optic sight, and spent an hour with a Dremel tool. Felt polishing wheel attachment, soaked in Brasso. Quite messy...
Voila.
What this thread needs is more custom snubbies.

I may be in the market for a snub for my lady. Can anyone tell me the model numbers of some auto pistol caliber snubs, like 9mm and .40? Knowing her, full moon clips would be the simplest possible way to load and the revolver form the simplest to operate. I know the S&W model 625 is in .45, but I haven't seen many of those in 3" or 2".
S@W models 940, 547, and 646 are chambered in 9mm,9mm and .40S@W respectively.
The 940 is a j frame snubby.
547 is a K frame that came in a 3" IIRC
646 is an L frame.

You are right, I did some more research and see that the first gun to be chambered for the .327 Magnum, is the Ruger SP101 double action revolver, and that gun only holds 6 rounds. So we need an explanation of what that gun is that Vantage posted a picture of!!
How 'bout it Vantage......what is that nice looking gun??
Found some smaller rubber grips for my humpbacks. Only $10 each so I figured it was a good deal.

The 327 is a S&W 8 shot .357mag, the "3" denotes it is a lightweight framed gun.
357 Magnum 8 Times. (Although admittedly I run a lot more 38s through it.)
I went into the shop to buy a Ruger GP101, but fell in love when I saw this sitting there.
First revolver I ever owned, and it's definitely got me wanting the 627 now. The single action performance center trigger is excellent and I'm just trying to get a little more control on the magnum rounds.
Thanks for all the compliments!

Edit: Oh, and the grips are stock. They're a lot of the attraction for me.

Are those S&W grips on the Taurus?
Actually, those are Taurus grips on the S&W! (I know... HERESY!)
It turns out that the major difference between Taurus and S&W J-Frame size round butt pistol grips is the (and I probably have the term wrong) the locator pin that keeps the grips from shifting.
The J-Frame pin is in the bottom strap of the grip while the Taurus pin is higher up and further forward. All it takes to fit one brand of grip on the other is to drill a hole for the pin. The hole is shallow and as long as the grips aren't too thin, easy to drill and doesn't compromise the strength of the grip.
Now, this might not work with the skinny wood grips that leave the front and rear straps exposed, I haven't done the measurements, but it worked with 3 sets of rubber grips and the oversized squarebutt grips I got with the M49.

The Rossi and holster both being black, I thought they would make a good test subject. (I still need to get better lighting, I was using a window, and overhead light and a flashlight in this shot)

Just my opinion...
If you like the looks of the Centennial 40 I recommend you take a look at the new ones S&W just starting selling.
My old pre-40 was 1955 vintage, had the narrow, serrated trigger, and I was afraid to shoot anything other than standard rounds thru it.
The newly produced Centennials, (I think) offer the MUCH better smooth trigger (like on my 638) which until you compare, and shoot, the two types side by side won't mean much to you, and again, "I think"are proofed for +p rounds.
So if you are considering a Centennial for self defense use a new one would be the way to go..
Also, the new ones are BEAUTIFUL in stainless, and I like that "case hardened" look if you aren't into "shiny"..
My two objections to a new Centennial are the high prices for what is just a snubby J-frame, and the lack of the original "high horn" grips, which I thought added class and distinction to the Centennial other J-frames didn't offer.
I wish they had reintroduced the model 42 Centennial which would have been the lightweight version and would have been better IMO for cc duty.
Just stickin' my nose in your bidness'.. :embarassed:

I was looking at a new one a couple weeks ago at a show and that is when I started getting interested. The price set me back on my heels though, so I will either find an older one or wait for the new M40s to hit the used market. I am not paying that much for a snubbie since I don't collect, I actually shoot and carry my guns  I do like S&W revolvers but they charge and arm and a leg for them.
I DO like that there is no side safety on the new 40, like almost everything else S&W makes these days... that was cool.

Picked up a S&W 642 today. Put 30 rounds of +P through it today, shoots very nice. Very snappy, wouldn't want to spend a day at the range with it, but it will make a formidable pocket carry gun. Trigger pull is a little stiff/long, these are ok to dryfire without snapcaps right? Going to be my pocket carry pistol.

I know better than that:upeyes: Pointed in a safe direction, except for my camera maybe, and no finger anywhere near being in the trigger guard. The camera was pointing down so it appeared that my ugly thumb was on the trigger, but it wasn't. Good thinkin tho.

NDG:
Pardon me for the delay in responding, I missed your request.. My apologies.
As to the Walther PPS.
I am extremely pleased with my new PPS. I paid too much for mine, but I wanted a little "instant gratification", and at $595.00 I paid about $50.00 too much, but don't regret it a bit.
I think as the supply increases the prices should drop to a general selling price in the $540-560 range, but I'm just guessing.
The PPS has been 100% reliable and very accurate right out of the box. It was slimmer than I imagined it would be, and a pleasant surprise (for an old fart like myself with declining vision) the PPS has very nice three white dot sights.. They appear to be about twice the size of those on my P99c/AS.
I like that.
Surprisingly I like the PPS well enough that I have retired my previous all time favorite cc pistol (the P99c/AS) to the gun safe. The PPS is simply much easier to cc, and it's so light you hardly know it's there. I prefer the PPS with the middle size (7rd) magazine, altho it's slightly easier to cc with the 6 rounder. I'm a big Walther fan and I've owned a surplus PP/P1/P5, and now have the P99c/AS, P99/AS, and PPS. So far I've never had a bad Walther pistol.
I'll try and post a photo comparison of my PPS and P99c/AS to give you an idea of the difference in the two for cc purposes. I think you'll see why I prefer the PPS for that duty.

I'm not a HUGE fan of the NAA .22's, but I am lovin' this little holster! :pepper: Tell me...who's the maker of this handsome work of art?
It was made by a shop called KC Custom Gunleather located in Springville, AL. I don't think they have a website, but you might check and see if these guys might be able to ship you one: http://www.southeasternguns.com/

I'll go +1 K.C. Leather makes good stuff.
I have one of their belts and a couple SSOWB holsters, and am getting one custom done for my Magnum Carry one of these days.
S.E. is fine, but you'd have better luck actually going to the store instead of calling or emailing, Paul (one of the guys that works there) that the Holster guy comes by on Saturdays (KC leather)
*EDIT: whoops Oklahoma* I'll see if I got the package from one of my holsters of thiers or a belt and see if I can get you the guys contact info.
*EDITx2*: found the card, 2151 Evergreen Rd, Springville AL 35146

Thanks for the backup, Rhoniss...I had lost that card a long time ago and had no luck with a 'net search.

Geez, not ONE .44 special or .45 Colt!
Don't look at me. My Taurus 450 Ti (.45 Colt) was stolen 6 or 7 years ago.
But here's my Taurus 617 (Yeah it's got a good bit of bluing worn off. I carry it every day and sweat all over it.). 7 rounds of .357 Magnum. First in the Bianchi model 6 IWB I carry it in pretty much every day. Then in the WRB fanny pack I occasionally carry it in. I actually carried it around in my right jacket pocket today. (Though it is a bit heavy for this mode of carry.)

I've been known to carry the snubbiest of snubbies as well..... My dad's North American Arms .22 Magnum. Which he also has a .22 L.R. cylinder for.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h17/Walter-45-Auto/GunPictures126.jpg
Here's the 2 snubbies I'm trying to decide between for my next carry gun. If I get the Taurus, I'm gonna get the Titanium model. Either one I get, I'm gonna put Crimson Trace Lasergrips on.
Smith & Wesson 649 in .357 Magnum.

My Taurus 606C. I love it but as my wife describes firing a ported .357 Mag snubby: "It's a lot like getting hit in the face with a pillow when you fire it. Not painful but VERY distracting."

THANKS! I never had either. I was all set to buy a new SS 617 and then I saw this out of the corner of my eye in the used case. Titanium for less than steel? SOLD...haven't looked back.

That is a good candidate for a pocket holster, look at a Desantis Nemesis only about $12 and just slips in your pants pocket and stays put when you draw the gun, works great and will not print. I love mine, try it. If you want an IWB there are many good ones out there, look at Desantis or Fobus for quality and good prices.

Actually the Taurus 617, being 7 shots, is a little too fat for pocket carry. (At least in my pants.) I use a Bianchi Model 6 IWB for mine. I've also used a Fist K4 Kydex holster. If you go this route, Don't get the J-hook belt attachment. The belt will slip off the J hook and get caught on the cylinder of your revolver, where you won't be able to draw the gun if you should need to. Get one of the loop attachments.

Yeah, I tried just slippin it into my pockey and it's a bit big. maybe it would work well with a holster. 12 bucks it's a worth a shot. Thanks for the advice on the desantis!

Not a very fancy picture, but I was very appy to find this used prelock 642 at a local shop the other day. Will carry it in a Mika Pocket holster.
Also added a SP-101 a month or so ago. The Ruger is a great little revolver.
Just got my S&W 642 yesterday and I love this gun! Packs quite a punch with the Winchester 110 gr., .38 Spcl. +P's. I'll be carrying this a bit more than the G19 since it's smaller. Time for a new holster...probably won't fit in the drawer..ha!
