A friend have a G18 without serial numbers on the frame plate, the plate is there but is not damaged/dremeled/similar to remove the serial, is virgin.

On the slide I can see on left side the original marks, Glock, 18, 9x19, Austria, etc. but on right side onlly apears the serial number, example AB123 and a tiny glock logo in front of the extraction port. no eagle or NP marks, nothing else. same on frame, no NP or eagle marks, on rigth only says GLOCK-AUSTRIA and on left, at front down corner of trigger guard I can see a 18 number.

Is this model a prototipe or a half worked gun extracted from the factory just to say something?

BTW the barrel is a aftermarket extended and ported, non marked on SS

Here is a pic

Hello Perro Loco (or maybe soon Perro Glocko? ;-)

AFAIK some of the (first?) and second generation Glocks did not have the number on the trigger plate, they were just blank.

So this is not unusual (even the finish seems early second generation)

The missing NPv is really interesting, I have early second generation G19 without the number on the trigger plate either but with the NPv and eagle stamp.

Does not look "half-finished" to me, looks finished without official pressure test (however possible...)

Maybe the serial number project can give you some hints on the history of this gun.

If this G18 would be a "special" or half-finished (I am not saying such glocks exist at all!) glock, it would be very likely that there would be no serial number at all on the gun.

Hope this helps.

Regards from Switzerland

SG (or from now on Glocko-loco) ;-)

Some countries regard the upper receiver as the serial numbered part instead of the lower. Could be from another market, but it still seems strange that they wouldn't SN the frame.

Why? I'd give it a better home!:tongueout:

When you take the slide off, is the serial number by chance on the OTHER SIDE of the plate? (Inside the frame)

Might have been a "monday" built G18.

This is EXACTLY WHY this G18 does not have a SN engraved on it's frame plate. In the market into which it was originally sold, it is NOT required, and instead, the slide and/or barrel are the serial numbered parts.

For illustation purposes I have added an icon: Chavez = :pjmn::aodnsb:

I have seen Glocks and even a couple G18's without numbers on the frame. In most of Europe only parts exposed to chamber pressure require serial numbers. So normally this would be the slide and the barrel.

There is an interesting question to be raised here.

Let's imagine that the FOPA MG Ban of '86 and the GCA '68 went away (No matter how unlikely we'll pretend that its possible). In the United States, the frame/receiver is considered the firearm. IE, on an M16, the only registered part is the lower receiver. On all pistols, the only serialized part would be the frame.

Now, on a G18, the only thing that makes it F/A is the slide. If I purchased a G18 (in our hypothetical world) would that mean I could then use the slide on ANY other Glock that it would fit? I could then leave the expensive, registered frame in the safe, since its only the receiver thats considered a MG right?

Nope. You would just have constructed an unregistered machine gun.

The frame rails are different in the Glock model 18 so the slide doesn't interchange or fit any other Glock frame.

:agree:

The G18 slide only fits the G18.

In your imaginary world where the 68 and 86 laws went away, then you could just buy a Glock 18 and pay the $200 transfer tax for the same price that LE depts. pay for one from Glock under $500. The only reason there is an expensive part of a machinegun is because of the legislative bans.
