View Full Version : trolling
I have a 115HP motor on a 17ft Crestliner and I'm having a problem with it trolling too fast. At idle it goes about 3 mph. Has anyone tried putting a trolling plate on their motor or used a drift sock?
Get a trolling motor. Two cycle outboards run really badly at idle or low rpms. They are designed to run at high rpms. Trolling puts lots of wear on the seals and tends to gum up your carbs and other components w/ oil. I can't stress enough how bad low rpms are for your outboard.
Do get a trolling motor, gas motors are too noisy anyway.
