I just order a few of these. What will this spring do for my trigger pull?

I use the GM Competition Trigger spring in both my G17 and G35. As Dump 1567 says, it lightens the pull, and in my opinion also makes for a somewhat smoother pull, as well. I debated about using it in my IDPA gun (G17), but I wanted both my Glocks to have the same trigger pull.

Since the trigger spring actually pulls back on the trigger the effect of a heavier trigger spring is a slightly lighter trigger pull during take-up. However if any major polishing efforts are done on the rest of the action the heavier spring can pull too hard and the trigger won't reset. I personally prefer to stick with the stock trigger spring and just do some contact area polishing. The overall result seems better since the pull is smoother and lighter - plus its one less non-stock part to deal with.

You base this on? My triggers are extensively polished and since the Comp. trigger spring pulls harder and since this is in an upward direction it should improve chances of reset. If your trigger spring breaks you may not get reset, not because it is a stronger spring.

BTW you can still get reset with a broken trigger spring by keeping the trigger pulled when the gun cycles.

Actually I have seen heavy trigger springs cause a failure to reset on numerous occaisions, one if the reasons I dont use them in any of my triggers.

Matt, how does it cause a failure to reset? I've not had this as an issue. I have had engagement out of spec cause doubles but only with one 35 frame I have.

This spring is heavier than stock and can overpower the firing pin spring causing a failure to reset.

Never had that happen even with the lighter firing pin spring and ti firing pin. I'll just be happy I don't have those problems.

My post is based on personal experience. I was trying different combinations of action parts to see what I liked best. When I put in the heavier trigger spring the gun stopped resetting reliably. I did have a reduced power firing pin spring in at the time. I forgot to mention that in my first post.

Understood. Matt seems to agree. My experience with several Glocks of my own and those that I have worked on for others doesn't exhibit any problems at all. :)
