Well.....I'm still here and still have my DE.

Seems that every now and then the DE thread goes silent. We need more people to post so that more people will post.

Have killed several hogs in the last couple of months but not with the DE. Have carried it several times when sitting a trail that leeds outta the swamp into some planted pines. Killed one at 148yds with my 7 mag,3 days ago. A "tough guy" boar that weighed 155lbs. All scared up from fighting but,as always, will be great eating.

Saw a visably pregnant sow and another sow that was obviously nursing and will never shoot either. I'll catch the "right" hog in the near future.

The 300gr Hornady XTP's have done a number on the bigger hogs before so they are tested for me.

Nothing beats the DE when you get "surrounded" by indignent boars. I have killed several at 10 feet from the DE's muzzle. What a "pucker factor". ------pruhdlr

Desert Eagle owners seem to be few and far between in these parts.

No worries though, I still have mine. I wouldn't give it up for anything.

I love my brushed chrome 50AE. They are expensive to feed though.

Gee, I guess I'll pipe up to try and keep this DE forum alive. I bought a DE in 50AE a month ago as an Xmas present to myself. So far the only mod I've done is Hogue one-piece rubber grips.

I'm currently reloading for it on my Lee Pro 1000 (don't laugh, one day I hope to grow up to a Dillon). Using the 44 Mag shellplate and feeding the cases manually one by one, the Lee cranks out the ammo. Using the standard charge of 32.5g of H110 and a 325g Speer UCHP bullet, I average 1326 fps on my cheapy chrony. The bullets are pretty expensive. Right now they're $20.99/50 at Midway (ouch!). At Sportsman's Warehouse in Phoenix they're $16.99 plus tax, so I stocked up on a bunch.

One thing about my DE -- the safety is very tough to operate. I can't move it with the thumb of my firing hand, I need to shift my grip and use both thumbs. Obviously not very tactical. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

Also, does anyone have a good recommendation on a holster? I'd like something that is strong-side straight drop, completely covers the trigger guard, and doesn't have a retention strap (or at least one that can be removed). Either leather or kydex, I'm not a nylon/cordura fan. Anyone have experience with the leather holster from Magnum Research? (I believe it's made by Gould & Goodrich) How about the leather holsters I see on Ebay? They look like they have a slight cant, but the price is right.

Long live the Desert Eagle! I love that cannon!

I'm still here and still have my DE 50. I'm on Glock Talk most every day but just don't think to stop in here. I also reload for my 50 and one day a while ago I was Bsing with a buddy in the lobby of our local range here in Minnesota when we heard a racket coming from the range. It was obvious the two guys were firing Desert Eagles but I had no way of knowing what caliber. When they were finished and came to the lobby I asked what caliber they were shooting and both replied 50's.When I asked if they reloaded their brass they sort of laughed and said no and went on their way. It was then that the range master told me it was the owner and head gunsmith of Magnum Research which I knew was based right here in Minnesota. I went out on to the range and recovered 73 casings for reloading.
