Ok, so I have Kongs (by the dozen in all colors), but she chews them apart too fast ( :wow: ) for their price. Even the XL black one is pretty well shredded. In fact, I just had to throw it out because it developed a crack from her persistent chomping.

The latest discovery is the Good Cuz ... I initially held off because I don't like squeaky toys and I didn't think the feet would last (rubber balls usually don't, especially if they have something through/attached to them that she can tear off) ... but she loves it more than she loves rawhide chewies, even though I limit her time with it because of the squeaking and because if unsupervised she *does* try to separate the feet .. but it's lasted the longest intact even by play hours so far, much to my amazement. And she loves it more than she loves rawhide chewies.

I have rope toys... the rope and tire had to be banished to outside after I lost a speaker to it ...

Eowyn is an 80 lbs Ridgeback/Rottie/other misc mutt cross. She has been known to, within mere minutes, chew-to-flat things like a metal pipe and a metal stick-type tire gauge that I leave laying around the house. Good thing she's now trained to stick by my side. ;) Makes supervision a lot easier!

Anyway, that's about it, durable toys wise, for what my local pet store has. What other good toys work for the power chewers we love?

 Many years ago, I lost a lamp to a rope my last GSD sent flying through the family room. Now I don't allow ropes for safety reasons, but my old guy had a good time with them back in the day.

In all seriousness though, have you tried the nylabones, "souper" size (yes, souper - not super) and the ones marked "durable?" They don't last forever with mine, but I get a good amount of use out of them.

My guys also like their galileo, turkey leg, beef bone etc... (all nylabone durable). This is the only product line that survives in my house. And glad you found the cuz - they are a huge hit here too, and remarkably durable. You wouldn't really think so to look at them, but they hold up to a lot of abuse.

I take the toy from her and *mildly* correct her any time she starts focusing on the feet or squeaker.

I have this problem too. I got my dog one of those black XL kongs, but he will look for the imperfection in the mold, and he will just work at that imperfection incessantly until it starts coming apart.

Then he gives me this look of "yeah, you thought that was going to stop me...now what?"

Luckily I was able to train him to not be destructive and he will not even think of chewing on anything that is not his, or else my house would be in rubble.

I just tend to figure that the cost of owning big dogs is not only higher because of additional food, but powerful chewers go through more toys. These toys that say things like "lifetime guarantee" - yeah right! Even the durable nylabones only last a few months.

My dogs are fantastic about not chewing on household items, shoes lying around, etc.. I have one that occasionally brings me misc things. She'll find a blanket or something lying on the floor and drag it over to me, for what reason I don't know. :) I figure as long as they don't chew up my stuff, they can have as many bones as they wish. I try to find new and different toys, but it's hard to find stuff that'll last through 3 shepherds and whatever foster I have at the time.

FYI: petsmart online frequently has much better prices than they do in the store, and they'll price match what's on their online site. The non-edible durable nylabones (the biggest size) - for example - are only around $6.50 online. They are $13+ in the store. I don't worry about price matching things that are only a few bucks in difference. I just factor that into the convenience of having it in the store. But I always have them match the nylabones and they do it happily seeing as how I buy quite a few at a time.

I do not have any problems with the black full sized kongs lasting around here, but I only have one dog that really likes it, and she's second in line as to power chewing. The red ones never lasted long.

These are my two power chewers and, yes, like yours, they work on the seams.
