View Full Version : Advise on northern Nevada hunting
I am from Chicago. And will be relocating after i retire, i would like to find hunting and fishing Paradise (i know we all want it) plus a reasonable place to live on my pension. I would mainly upland game hunt. Are there any places in the north where i wouldn't freeze to death in the winter or roast in the summer and still have forest land around me? Will some please point me in an area i could search for a home with some acreage. I would be looking in the $100,000 to $160,000 range.
Ely area White Pine County. Would be a good area to look at. TONS of fishing areas.
Big time dove and quail spot. Not 100% sure about the upland game there. I know a bit further south near Lund - Sunny Side is a upland spot.
Alot of good Deer Elk and Antelope. Still sort of close to Vegas or Salt Lake for monthly Costco runs (roughly 3.5 hour drive to either)
The area is growing, I think they now have a Walmart there. But know they have regular chain grocery stores. It was real down since the 80's when the mines closed, but is making a very nice comeback in the last 5 years.
Not sure how cold - hot you don't want. But 90's in the sumer for highs 30's in the winters. Thats about as mild as you can get. Some snow, but nothing too much if you stay in the lower elevations.
Shot ya a PM with my number.
When looking at hunting areas, be aware that our fine politicians have created 24 new wilderness (no motorized vehicals, can't hunt) areas in Nevada. In some cases entire hunting areas have been closed that were open to hunting just last year. Other wilderness areas have been enlarged and make it a real pain to get into.
