Frank Glover announced yesterday that the 2008 Carolina Cup will be held on June 19, 20, and 21 this year. I believe he also stated that applications will be available at http://www.the-range.com on 3/1 so keep your eyes open. I don't have any other details right now.
Greg
Yup!!!
This year, The Cup will be done on a "Nationals" format.
Frank is opening it up to 280 plus shooters this year.
Guaranteed to be just as excellent if not better than years gone by.
The Carolina Cup is the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on. Oh crap, I hope I didn't just give Frank an idea for a stage!

He does get pretty creative. He's had us shooting from a grave, on a motorcycle, from a school bus.

Missed the grave but did do the motorcycle and bus:wow:

I fail to see how changing his name would protect you :tongueout:

She just doesn't let up on you does she? I'm just trying to consolidate all my forum names to one. Makes it easier to remember who I am.

  Bogey is lots of fun to pick on (plus he's a good sport about it).

Oh ok! This one is harder for me to remember but I'll eventually remember it.

Anybody know if the event is set up to accommodate spectators?
I've never gotten into IDPA, but might be interested in watching a match.

Spectators are always welcome. Just bring ear and eye protection. The Cup may be a bit busy to see very much. If you stop by for a monthly match, we'll get up up close and personal with a stage or two.
Hey, just want everyone to know that the applications have been available for a while. The March date Frank mentioned is the earliest mail in date. Slots are assigned based on when applications are received. Squads can sign up together.
Squads??? Yes that is correct. While the Carolina Cup has avoided squads in all prior years, the only way to accommodate an increase in participants was to go to a squads and move to a multi-day format. BIG changes - you can shoot the match all day Thursday or 1/2 on Friday and the other 1/2 on Saturday. Dinner and awards on Saturday night. Sunday is a travel day. (In the past participants shot 9 stages on Saturday and 9 on Sunday.)
Bogey, the 280 is the participants without SOs and Staff. SOs and staff will add 50 to 60 - the total match participants should be in the 330-340 area making it one of the largest matches in the world.

I haven't been out to a match in a while. Has Frank mentioned anything about the accommodations for SOs that he had talked about earlier? I have 3 guys coming up from Florida to SO that need a place to stay. I let Frank know when I submitted our apps but I was just wondering if anyone had heard any more details.
Thanks,
Greg
Greg,
Call Frank - he's discussed this with SOs. While the details no state secret, IMO, this is not the sort of thing that should be bantered about in a forum.
