Have a 10/22. I am thinking of changing the stock.

If I have the tapered barrel, will a stock sized for the .92" work for this? Will this 'free float' the barrel or will accuracy go to heck?

This is supposed to be a cheap plinking rifle but looking at all the stuff out there for it......

Click here (http://store.shooters.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=243&Product_ID=35906&CATID=755&group=Ruger%2010%2F22&SPECIAL_GROUP_ID=0) to see the stock that I have. It is the one on top. I have a .920 barrel and this stock fits it nicely, they also make the same stocks for the factory barrel. When I look down the barrel, I see nothing under it, I guess it is like it is free floated, although I have not had it bedded. It is very nice, but kinda expensive. Well worth the money if you ask me. There are other less expensive alternatives as well. Just depends on how much you want to spend, I didn't plan on doing anything to my 10/22, but I ended up putting about $600 into it after I bought it.

thats not a bad idea, but I am really looking for a thumbhole stock but I don't want to change out the barrel. I will definetly keep that in mind.

These rifles are like buying cars, you go in for the stick shift model and come out with AC, cruise control, pin stripes, and big wheels.
