I have a scout type rifle that I want to scope. Most scout scopes are low power such as 2.5 or 2.75. That is great for what a scout rifle is designed to be used for but I would like to have a scope that does that AND would have more power for bench or longer shots when you have a steady rest. Leatherwood makes a 2-7 power but I cant find one in stock anywhere. My ? is what would be the down side of using a handgun scope on a scout rifle? If the eye relief was the same I can't see where it would matter. But I don't have any experience with handgun scopes so I was hoping some of you guys might have some insight. If you guys could give the plus side and minus side of trying this that would be great.
Thanks for your help.
Jim

Have you looked at the variable power millet scopes?

I have used this scope on a buddies rifle at a 3 gun match. Excellent optics, illuminated reticle and 1 to 4 power zoom.
Excellent scope.

Thanks Nathan but it only has 3.5in eye relief which I don't think is enough for a M1A scout rifle. Seems like a nice scope though.

I just ordered a Millett Buck Gold Scope 6-24x 44mm Adjustable Objective Plex Reticle Matte for my 10-22 KID super rifle. It looks good and was on the clearance rack.
