Possibly moving to Houston (South side). Are their any recommended ranges in the area? Any to stay away from?
Thanks!
My recommendations but neither are on the south side.

South Houston, best place to shoot is Marksman Indoor Range, on Nebraska, just off of Hwy 3.

I vote for Marksman Range in South Houston, too. It's the only place that I shoot.

Marksman is run by good and friendly people.

I really hate to hear that about Sportsmans. I lived in Kingwood until a little over two years ago. I used to shoot there weekly. I mentioned Carters Country because, weather permitting, I prefer to shoot outdoors. There used to be another indoor range on the west side of HW 59 five miles or so south of FM 1960, I don't remember the name. There is also another outdoor range somewhere on Lake Houston, I went there once.
Thanks for the update.
There is a great range just off 1960 and Shiloh Church rd. I've been going there since it opened about two months ago. Very friendly family owned and operated, indoor pistol range. Open 10am to 8pm Tue thru Sun.

I tried to go to Sportmans one time but they would not allow me to shoot the ammo I brought. It seemed to me that they really wanted to sell thier reloads. That was 8-10 year ago.

Totally under new ownership, 10 times better than previously, night and day difference.
I know it's on the West side of town, but just another good place to consider.
I would say that Shooters Station is the best. It's located in Conroe, but definately worth the drive. Good people, good prices, etc...
