Howdy!
Win'86 here ---"newbie" to Glock Talk--- and this topic may have been covered before; but, I am thinking of purchasing a Glock 24. Does anyone out there, own one or have you had one?
I am looking for all comments on this model---good or bad!

I'm not the only one here with a G24 (non ported), but there are a lot more of the G35's or whichever model # it is out there. The G24 is great !! An accurate, soft, and smooth shooter. IDPA changed their rules so it is illegal now (too long). But otherwise a sweet pistol.

I shot thouands of rounds through a G24. Changed the barrel to a stock Glock non-ported (came with a ported barrel) so I could shoot USPSA Limited class at the time. Nice shooting gun, and the sight radius is terrific. Never a problem. I think Glock has disontinued them since the G35 came out.

I have a 24C and it's my favorite. Shoots great and the recoils feels light!

Good luck finding a new one. You may have to settle for used, which is still OK.

I bouught my used G24C in 1998. It's a real sweetheart. It is presently set up as an Unlimited Pistol for GSSF.:)

I recently bought a G24C from another Glock Talk member. It shoots great. Recoil is neglible. Feels comparable to a 9mm. I can't wait to try it out for GSSF too.

The only drawback I can find to the G24C is the need to clean the front sight after every magazine or so. :)

JH,

Forget about the white dot on the front sight. Make believe they are good, old fashioned black sights. I replaced my sights with black Heinies.:)

I'd rather not discuss the good deal on my G24C. The previous owner was upset with it because it shot low/left.;f

In my experience, shooting low left is typical for new guns. :) At least, my first couple guns all shot low left for a while. After rigorous break-in periods, they all shoot more accurately. Fortunately, my G24C was already broken in. It shoots well already. ;)

GLock Smyrna sold me a 24 slide/barrel assembly in 2001 for $275. I waited 6 weeks for it. They fit the frame of a G22/31. Just drop it in. It works fine. I was only able to buy the non-ported version (which I prefer). That is the best way to get a "new" G24.

Thank you for the post! That may be what I have to do----it sounds good!
I am still working on a new G 24; but, I won't know for sure until late next week! I am hoping this works out; but time will tell!
If this falls through, I may look at getting thev slide/barrel assembly!

I was told by my local Glock dealer they had only imported 1 thousand G24's a year up to 2 years ago.With the introduction of the G35 it virutually eliminated the sale of the G24.I've been looking for 2 years at locating a new one with no luck.
I thought also since the G35 came out the G24 was no longer allowed to shoot at GSSF matches.They reduced the size of box for large framed pistols and the G24 no-longer fit by the box standards.

All Glocks can be used at GSSF matches. The 24/24C/17L can be used in Competition and Unlimited which is where the 34/35 can be shot. There is no "box" or power factor in GSSF shooting. My partner still uses my 24C in Competition class now. He shot it at Richmond, VA.

FYI, not the 18...;f

I know IDPA did this, but I'm pretty sure any Glock can be shot at a GSSF match. I'd keep looking, G24's are great pistols.
