I know there are some VCDL members here in this forum. Has anyone gone to Lobby Day in Richmond before? I am a VCDL member in Fredericksburg and I am thinking about going. What is it like, what do we do? Any info would be appreciated.

I went the year before last.
Brought my kids along (3 of them). They got extra credit in school for it after writing up a little report.
Basically you meet up at the capital, they hand out some talking point sheets, a list of bills VCDL supports and opposes, and give you some tips for talking with your legislator, you split up into groups based on who your Representative is and you walk up to see them. Often their are other folks lobbying and when I was there a bunch of anti gun folks with kids where lobbing as well. Got some cold stares in the hallways with 3 kids wearing "Guns Save Lives" buttons.
My delegate was in his office and spent about 15 mins talking with us and took some photos with us. My senator was in committee that was discussing an antigun bill. After talking with his staff member for a while we went down and watched the committee meeting for a while. Then we headed home.\
Both my Senator and Delegate are very pro-gun. So it was easy talking to them.
Last year I was out of town that day. I plan on going again this year.
With the amount of BAD gun bills on the schedule this year we really need to pull together and let them know our position.

What is VCDL and when is this lobbying day?

The VCDL (http://www.vcdl.org) is Virginia's grass roots organization that takes a leading role in protecting, preserving and improving our gun rights. The NRA can't get deep down into every state so the VCDL is instrumental in sticking up for our state & local rights.
Monday the 21st is the lobbying day. I can't make it but I'll be there in spirit.
Just to add a bit to the above.
The NRA does have a state organization here in VA. It's called the Virginia Shooting Sports Association.
The VCDL is more focused on concealed carry issues than VSSA is and takes a more active or proactive (some would say In Your Face) approach with localities.
