Glockers with Crimson Trace lasers....

How much grip does it take to turn the laser on? Ideally, I'd like to able to hold the gun and not have the laser come on until I really grip it tightly. In the dark, I wouldn't want an intruder to see me coming from across the house!

Is the unit for 1911s any different in that regard? Thanks. :)

On the ones I've held, it's easy to hold the gun in a descent grip (just a smidge looser than my normal grip) and the laser stays off. Then, it's pretty easy to tighten the grip to shooting pressure and laser is on.

They work pretty darn well for me. :cool:

Brother, let me tell you right now about Crimson Trace lasergrips on the Glock pistol. I carry it, and I believe in it.

It is a revolutionary sighting device that gives a brilliant, steady non-blinking red dot at the apex. The bullet is going to go exactly where that red light is. The Crimson Trace models for the Glock system have no switches - it simply comes on when you squeeze the backstrap of the weapon in a combat grip. The batteries last a very long time. I use my weapon every week at the range and I'm on the same batteries I put in six months ago. It can not come on in a holster by itself, in my experience. Change the batteries every six months. Check the laser every week at the range wyou function check your pistol. Other than training for the advanced capabilities of a laser sight equipped prmary defensive handgun, no maintenance is required.

There's a little DVD Crimson Trace puts out called "A Shot In The Dark." Get it and watch it. If you don't want it after you watch it, I'll buy it from you. It is that good. Clyde Caceres and Danny Fatt do a brilliant job of demonstrating and explaining how Crimson Trace laser grips work in a combat situation.

The only after market device needed to equip a Glock pistol is Crimson Trace laser grips. The stock Glock sights are fine as back up sights, but you'll never need them, in my experience.

How do they attach on, and do they make the trigger reach longer or the grip thicker when on?
Seems like if one put them on the fat grip 30 or 29, it's going to be a pretty big thick grip!

So you shoot at a red dot only or do you still practice with your sights for when the battery dies?

Try to find a dealer who has the unit that you are interested on or a friend with the laser installed before you order one.

The laser grips for GLOCK pistols increase the area you use to get a firm grip on the gun along the thumb, index and middle fingers (mostly). If your hands are marginaly small for the pistol frame w/o the laser, you might runout of finger length to wrap around the front strap when you install the laser grip. This is specially critical in the subcompact models like the G26, 27, 30 etc. since the ring and pinky fingers are most of the time out off the frame.

You'd better train hard for your subtle change-o-grip technique. The likelihood of you being able to maintain that fine control is very low in a real situation.

That said, I don't think you have to worry about the bad guy seeing you coming because of your laser. If he can only see your laser, it's too dark for a good shoot.

The way that Crimson Trace units change the grip is very subjective. They do make the grip a little thicker, but the bumps seem to be in a part of the hand/grip that does not really effect the reach of the fingers (including trigger) around the weapon.

One other thing to consider about these laser grips is if you are a left handed shooter and hold the gun like you should with high thumb grip, your thumbs will cover up the laser and the only red light you will see will be on your thumb nail. I tried these in the gun store and I think they are great but for us lefties it would be a waste of $200 unless we wanted to compromise our grip to make the laser work.

I don't have a set on my G23 -- YET, but I have a set on my 1911 that I have used for years. The nice thing about the lasergrips is that they don't require any thought to use. There are no switches to flip, no covers to pull off, and the battery doesn't run down if you forget to turn it off. In that way, it's just like the Glock -- point and shoot. :supergrin:

I before I buy a gun I check to make sure Crimson Trace makes a set for that gun. It is does not make my final desion for me, but it is one deciding factor.

IMO I want the intruder to know im coming and I have a gun. Id rather he/she know and run away than potentially shoot them and if they insist on coming further then i resort to pulling the "bye bye" button.

Yes, you probably will, unless you don't grip the gun high in the web of your hand and your thumbs point staight down to the ground when you grip the gun to shoot.
