Why has the price of the Scherer 28-round .40 magazine gone from 25-28 to 45-60 dollars ?
That is a mystery. I have a 33rd one for my G19 and it is a piece of crap. I used it once and after that the spring just stopped being a spring. When one round was spent the next round would just sit there until I turned it upside down to get it out. I cannot recomned them.

I buy only glock 33round 9mm mags for 25 each but i need some for my .40/.357 . I had bought one of Scherers 28 round .40 mags for my Kel-Tec Sub2000 .40 folding rifle that takes glock mags, and it worked perfectly . It cost me about 80 bucks during the ban about 5 years ago. I bought one about 2 years ago for a friend for 28 and it worked in his dads subcompact .40 . I would like a couple in .40 and .45 just to tinker with.

When I bought my Kel-tec Sub, it came with 2 33 round scherers and one no name brang metal one () the metal one I won't even attempt to use because I'm scared it will damage the mag catch, the scherers are "ok" but I have several of the Glock brand ones so I'm not even going to waste my time.
Having said that, I wouldn't have a problem using them at the range for practice sessions (heck you have to induce a malfunction in a Glock somehow ) but they are not reliable enough for duty or SD use.
Scherer magazines may be OK but, I will stick with those "30 round maagazines made by GLOCK. Those magazines are the ones that are reported to WORK! Off Brands--maybe.

Glock doesn't offer a 28 round for the .40 or a 25 round for the .45 like scherer.

I bought 2 13rd ones for my G21 years ago when I first bought the gun. First range trip the springs gave up the 2nd time each mags were loaded, keep in mind I bought these new. OEM Glock springs/parts don't work with these either. I still have them collecting dust somewhere and I will never buy them ever again. Come to thing of it I don't believe they were even metal lined and bulged pretty bad when loaded. This was 4 yrs ago IIRC, maybe the quality has gotten better since then.

The 28round ones are only half metal lined and bulg when fully loaded. I read a guy who claimed to have fixed his with wolf +5% strength magazine springs, and another guy who installed a glock magazine follower due to the follower tilting.
