View Full Version : Please tell me about Scherer mags.
Who has used Scherer high cap mags? The 29 rd .40 cal in particular. I'm thinking of getting at least one before the election.
Are they reliable?
Thanks, Natty.

No.
If you can get one or two REALLY cheap, then go ahead, but my experience with Scherer mags has been less than adequate.

I've heard the same things on the net. Probably better to have to 15 rnd mags or two 15 rnd mags w/+2 add ons that are reliable than a super high capacity turd. Who wants to hear click when you are in a situation where you NEED to hear bang!

If you just must have and shoot a 30 plus magazine get a 9mm conversion barrel and go with the factory 33 rounders. It would be a lot less expensive to shoot as well. Another option are the +4 .40 I've heard about made by Taylor Freelance, Arredondo, Grams, and Dawson. I have no experience with these, but I think they are used in competition race guns.

Sorry so many posts, just keep remembering stuff. That company that makes that new .45 sub gun the TDI KRISS will be offering .45ACP 30 round kits for Glock 21 magazines soon because their semi auto carbine will be marketed to the general public, and I can only imagine they will deliver a super quality product. Check it out on their web site. www.kriss-tdi.com

The springs wore out the 2nd time they were ever loaded on the 13rd G21 I had a few years back. Junk imho.
I have one for my G23.
The 2 times I've used it at the range it fed all the rounds through it. The only problem I have with it was the follower does not cause the slide lock to activate when it is empty other than that no problems. It is a PITA to load after you get about 20 rounds in it.
It's nice to have, but if your in a situation where you need 30 .40 cal psitol rounds to survive you probably need a rifle.
