Is there a knock off company making similar bipods? I want a short adjustable one for my .22 and I DO NOT want to spend a hundo on it. I'd like one that attaches to the swivel stud.

View Full Version : Harris bi-pods are too expensive! ctaggart 01-11-2008, 16:21 Is there a knock off company making similar bipods? NeverMore1701 01-11-2008, 16:47 There is a decent one at Wal-Mart for not too much $$$. I forget the brand, maybe Rock Mount or something? I have one and it is fine on my 10/22. ArmaGlock 01-11-2008, 18:18 I have a Rock Mount Bi-Pod, a lot cheaper, same exact thing. proraptor 01-12-2008, 09:04 rock mount bipods arent even close to being as good as harris....Harris is a lot more solid and worth every penny... cahilj 01-12-2008, 19:22 It all depends on how much you use it. I've had tons of cheap bipods, and they've all worked just fine for me. I had a Harris once, but it got run over by a truck (on my M4, bent the barrel and destroyed the KAC RAS, but the Surefire light was just fine....go figure). I didn't notice too much of a stability difference between the Harris and any of the cheapies. cyrsequipment 01-13-2008, 09:43 rock mount bipods arent even close to being as good as harris....Harris is a lot more solid and worth every penny... They are fine for use on almost anything. Harris are stronger but they are SERIOUSLY overpriced. If you are building a military grade sniper rifle, spring for the harris, of not go for the cheap ones. proraptor 01-13-2008, 17:47 They are fine for use on almost anything. Shooting 400-600 yards you will notice a difference and shooting 850+ yards you will notice a huge difference....You get what you pay for.....If you are going to stick to shooting 100 yards then it might work but I would have never got a .3 inch 5 shot group at 100 yards with the rockmount I had...way too wobbly MARSH1 01-13-2008, 22:06 They are fine for use on almost anything. Harris are stronger but they are SERIOUSLY overpriced. If you are building a military grade sniper rifle, spring for the harris, of not go for the cheap ones. If you compare models with the same features the Harris is around $20-30 more than the Rocky Mountain. The OP was asking about using it on a .22. If that is all they are ever going to use if for than they are fine but why not get the Harris and be set for anything except maybe a .50 BMG. ArmaGlock 01-14-2008, 06:54 rock mount bipods arent even close to being as good as harris....Harris is a lot more solid and worth every penny... Whatever you say...unless you're a sniper on an active SWAT team or in the military, the Rock Mount will work just fine. I've used both of them, if the Harris is any better, it isn't by much. proraptor 01-14-2008, 11:32 Whatever you say...unless you're a sniper on an active SWAT team or in the military, the Rock Mount will work just fine. I've used both of them, if the Harris is any better, it isn't by much. Sniper and active swat doesnt have anything to do with the harris being a hell of a bipod...Ive used the rockmount out to 850 yards hitting a torso sized target and it just isnt as solid. There is a little movement in the bipod which translates into a huge movement at 850 yards which means you dont hit your target. The harris is as solid as you can get which means no movement and one shot one hit. But hey if you are going to be shooting a .22 at 100 yards the rockmount might work....Id still go with a harris though as I love to see how small of a grouping I can get on a bipod. MrMurphy 01-15-2008, 06:53 Or you can use a sandbag (dang near free) or a jacket stuffed inside a backpack, etc.. far more stable, quite usable, and requires no mounting. Any hard/soft bag is generally more stable than a bipod, just not quite as quick to use. jp 19 02-04-2008, 23:00 so has anybody tried or used the NcStar bipod? come complete with a picitinny quick release. I saw one at the gun how sunday and it seemed quite solid... although it didnt have the springs on each leg (which i see as a feature that could snag on brush) to allow it to spring forward ... but you simply grabbed both legs squeeze them to deploy. and do the same to undeploy them ... the legs were notched and the it panned and swiveled... has anyone tried one of these? yes i understand it is "chinese junk" but if it works??:whistling: vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
