Hey guys,
I posted this in NG, before I saw the new forum. Here is my problem.

I have been planing on purchasing a model 64 with 2inch barrel. It is in good shape. Nickel finish. The only thing I can find wrong with it is that the grip needs to be tightened up some. I have it on hold right now for $150. All of this was great until I walked into a shop today to get a g27 magazine. As I'm walking by I notice a used snubbie in the revolver case, so of course I have to look at it. The clerk hands it to me, and what do I hold other than a 2inch model 15-2. I couldn't believe it! I have been wanting this exact snubbie, because I have a m15 with 4inch barrel. The finish is good, just some wear on the cylinder and the front of the barrel. Looks to be one of those, carried often, shot seldom guns. It had virtually no end shake and the action and trigger were smooth as silk. The price wasn't bad either for only $300. My plans were to buy the 64 and a airweight for pocket carry, but now I ain't sure what to do. I think the 64 will be available for a while, but would hate to see it or the 15 go . What to do? I know some will say just by both and get the airweight later, but I am still unsure. Your thoughts please.

get the 15-2. and BUY the durn thing, squinch if you have to. it's ok to look forward to guns you want, ONE AT A TIME. It'll make you careful about your choices.

You have two good-condition, pre-lock guns at reasonable prices there.

The 64 would make more sense (to me, anyway) as a primary carry; I always considered snubbies with target sights something of a novelty. But you want the 15 for nostalgic purposes... nothing wrong with that.

In your shoes, I would grab both now. I put off buying a specific pre-lock gun some months back, and now I'm paying dearly (right at $200 dearly) for that mistake. Prices and availability on all things gun and ammunition related are only going to get worse.

.

P.s.: A nickled 64? You sure about that?????????

LSP972,
I thought it nickel, but guess it could have been stainless, really not sure, and i haven't figured out each model designation yet. sorry if the "nickel"part confused.

I have a Model 15 in both 4" and 2". Personally I consider this model to be the best wheel gun that S&W ever made. Jump on that 15-2!!

I own K frame snubs with adjustable sights and fixed. The fixed are stronger and more snag proof but are regulated for 158 gr ammo. I use my 64 2inch the most and load all my snubs with 158LHP anyway so adjustment isnt needed.

The 15-2 is more the novelty and certainly a cool gun (have a 15-2, 4 incher), but the 64 is more practical with the fixed sights and stainless.

i have three model 64s, a 2", 3" and 4"...i have no model 15s....not that i dont like them, but i cast my vote for practicality over queens.
