View Full Version : Mod. 36 jam problem
I have a new mod.36 , when I ran about 50 rds. of Winchester Ranger ammo ( black talon )through it, on 7 occasions the slide locked back after the 3rd or 4th round. The slide release dosen't engage, the slide just seems to lock back. When I examine the problem, the next round is just sitting there under the ejector in the magazine, it hasn't moved at all. I can drop the magazine out of the gun and the slide dosen't fall into battery,I have to pull the slide back a bit, then it will slide forward. I'm in law enforcement so this could be a problem. I checked the slide release with the weapon taken down and all appears to be normal, no burrs etc. Anyone have any suggestions. It has the same problem with both magazines.;g

You have problems if the slide it locking back without the slide catch being engaged! Especially if you are correct in that the next round in the mag has not caused this.
That gun needs to see an GLOCK Armour!
I'd look at it for you, but all you guys have to be from the Detroit area! Kidding or course.;)
Something has to be going on inside the back end.
Michigun, Thanks for the response. I am from Michigan, and I work in Detroit. I was at the range today and upon close examination of my new magazines, I noticed that where the slide stop engages in the side of the magazines, both of the magazines had slight burrs in the plastic. I trimmed the burs off, and wala, went bang every time !! It seems that these small burs somehow cause the slide to engage without having the slide release engage fully. I went to Wessels Gun Shop and picked up a rubber slip on grip to go over my plastic grip. This helped in being able to maintain a good grip during rapid fire. Again, thanks for the response! ;f

Well, glad you got it all figured out.
I have to say though, I'd never read anything here on GT like your particular problem... It was an odd one for sure!
Everyone here at GT that's from MI works &/or lives in Detroit except me...;g You could have left out the "White Lake, Michigan" from your "location" below your "user name" & I bet I still would have put you in that area!:)
I figured out a little over a year ago that I missed all the toothless ( :) ) "people" up here in my hometown & moved out of the "Detroit area". I was there just about 4 years.
