View Full Version : Why I like my snubbie

I like it because it will go bang 5 times in a row, unless the ammo is bad. And if a round of the ammo is bad, a pull of the trigger brings up a different round.
I like it because it's easy to clean, it doesn't need to be disassembled.
I like it because no parts can be removed, lost or misplaced by accident such as magazines or springs, or the barrel or slide. It won't come apart without tools or without a catastrophic failure.
I like it because it's easy to train a newbie with it.
Pull trigger to fire, push latch to open. That's all.
I like it because it looks good, and I've considered adding some exotic fancy wood grips to it. My Glocks don't ask for any such bling-bling.
I like the romance and history of the revolver.
I just hope 5 rounds will be enough in any emergency; because of this, a snubbie might not be enough gun.

Heck, they're small, take two and call me in the morning. :tongueout:

Pretty much covers it for me....OK, I 'll add this.
They also tend to be far more accurate then people give them credit for and they are far more likely to work you you really need it in worst case scenarios. Most guns get more troublesome as you downsize, but not the J frames.

Also have to add. The lightweight of the snubbie. The ease to pocket carry it and like you said it just looks so good. Speed loaders are also a plus much smaller to hide.

A tool of steel, used with discretion, carried with concealment in mind, can get you out of a tight spot. More useful to me than any other "pocket pistol", and will go bang 5 times if the ammo is made right. A neat and may I say sexy little pistol, with generations of users. Practice, care and use are all these little life savers need.
I drop mine in the pocket before my wallet every day..

Nah, I can put a Glock mag or two in any of my pockets, just like a cellphone or a wallet, and have another 17 or even 34 (2 G17 mags) rounds immediately available.
Try that with 3 to 7 snubbie speedloaders.
Single stack mags are not much thicker than the caliber, check out the KT PF9 or P3AT mags for concealable size.
I do like my snubbie, but not if I'm going to need more than 5 for sure.

Then again, IF you know you're gonna need more than 5, why not bring 30?
Snubby: "Might need it but don't wanna be hassled if I don't" DAYS
Automatic: "I feel I need it and I don't mind the extra effort to conceal" DAYS
Shotty: "I wanna stay home and not be bothered" DAYS
Rifle: "SHTF and I wanna stay alive" DAYS
And just to remain on-topic:
I love the snubby because it is old world engineering that still holds its own today. Ranks right up there with the 1911 as one of the most iconic weapon designs ever.
Dream snubby: S&W Scandium with CTC laser grips. Hmmmmm........

1. It's the gun you actually have with you all the time.
2. It won't go bang without your intention to make it go bang.
3. It will go bang when you intend for it to go bang.
4. It is hell for stout.
5. Won't fire when dropped. 5b. Won't break when dropped.
6. Doesn't require a holster.
7. Disappears in your pocket.
8. Great trigger -- especially single action.
9. Choice of single or double action.
10. Can handle shot cartridges and other special loads.

I like mine for all the reasons you said except the first one. I like MY snubbie because it will fire 7 rounds, failing an ammo or catastrophic parts faliure.
You don't have to remember if there's a round in the chamber.

Lets see.. I have 3 snubbies, and I like them cause they are MINE ALL MINE muahahahahahahaha!!!! and they are always loaded. After thinking about it now I need an 8 shot. I got a 5 (638), 6 (6860, and 7(242). So I guess I need to add a 327 to the mix.

Thank you. I think i swiped it from someone on the site here. they had the GLOCK white and I painted the GLOCK black.
Love my snubbys... A pre-lock 649 no-dash and a M&P 340 .357. Pocket carry is easy, and they go bang every time.
I'll admit though, I feel better prepared with my Glock 19 and try to carry it whenever possible.
When a perp looks at the business end, all he sees is HOLLOW POINTS !

Case number one pulled the trigger and nothing happened pulled trigger second time and that revolver went bang. Case number two, pulled the trigger and nothing happened started my slap, tap, rack or something close to that, and I died with an auto in my hand!! :wow:
