I thought I'll pass the news that my steyrM40 40S&W finally took a dive. I guess the torture test that no Gun mag has yet todo is because a steyr can't make it, past 4k rounds with out something small going wrong.

The left-side manual safety lever that you pull down to block the trigger, snap right off and fell out of the frame. The gun still functions and shoots but this safety is now inoperative. I didn't even notice till I was loading up for CCW and saw my safety lever or part of of it missing. My local gun range M9 has extraction probelms and only has 2K rounds or less.

Now for the (rant) the former importer ( GSI ) where behind and never had any positive news on parts availabilty and always seem lost. So now that Steyr has a new importer Dynamit-Noble (hope I spell that right), they are not much better. I called today to find out about warranty repair and their only response was they can't nor have any spare parts, nor know when they will have spare to perform warranty work. What a bummer. My only alternative is to contact Steyr-AUS which I plan on doing.

Long live the glock as being the most reliable easy to obtain warranty work and 100% faithful. I still think Steyr M40 is light years ahead of glock 23/22/27 models in the area of trigger and the feel of the frame and recoil, but time will only tell if they ever get a good push into this polymer market and right now they are behind glock and the XD.

just my 0.02 information.
