Sheriff Frank Anderson vowed to track down “like dogs” the suspects who gunned down two children and their mothers late Monday.

“We’re not going to stop until we find you and put you in a cage where you belong,” Anderson said. “There’s a special place in hell for you, and we’re going to see that you get there.”

Gina Hunt, 24, and Andrea Yarrell, 24, were holding their babies when the suspects fired multiple shots into the four victims at a Near Northside home, police said.

More than 80 investigators have been working to find the killers since the crime was reported at about 10:45 p.m.

Even the most seasoned investigators on the case have been deeply affected by the deaths of Jordan Hunt, 23 months, Charlii Yarrell, 4 months, and their mothers.

“It’s something you can never get used to,” Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Chief Eva Talley-Sanders said.

Andrea Yarrell was talking to her boyfriend on the phone when the attackers entered the home. He called his mother, who told the Star she reported the shooting to 911 dispatchers.


An officer responding to the initial call spotted a black SUV with Indianapolis Colts license plates driving north on Hovey Street. The officer was still checking out the report and allowed the vehicle to leave, Sgt. Matthew Mount said.

“At that time all they had was they had been sent to a house on a 911 call,” Mount said.

The initial call sent officers to the wrong address.

“They found the right house across the street and went in through a broken window,” Mount said. “By the time they realized what they had, the SUV was long gone.”

Police also are investigating reports that two men were seen running from the area, Mount said.

Police found two handguns outside near the shooting scene, Mount said.

Inside the home, officers found a safe, about a pound of suspected marijuana, an electronic scale, ammunition and three long guns, according to a report.

Annie Boyd told the Star that her son Gene Boyd was talking on the phone with his girlfriend, Andrea Yarrell, when he heard someone break into the home.

“He heard the shots,” Boyd, 55, said. “He was on the phone. They were talking and she heard something at the door.”

Boyd said her son heard Yarrell waking her friend Gina before the connection cut off. He called back.

“Andrea mashed the talk button. He heard the shot, then heard Gina holler out: ‘Those are my babies!’“ Boyd said. “After that the phone went dead again.”

Gene Boyd, who is at the Indianapolis Men’s Work Release Center serving time in a drug case, called his mother.

“My son was on the phone with them and he heard the shots he called me and told me to call the police,” Annie Boyd said. “I’m the one that sent them over there but I think I sent them to the wrong address.”

Annie Boyd said her son and Yarrell had been in an off-and-on relationship for about 10 years and had reconnected recently. He was not Charlii’s father, she said, but he loved the little girl.

Boyd said she regarded Yarrell like a daughter.

“All she was doing is looking for her baby to get a little older. She just wanted to raise her daughter,” Boyd said. “Pretty little girl. She couldn’t wait to put a barrette in her hair.”

The suspects have “no heart,” Boyd said.

“They’re cruel. That’s the devil in somebody,” Boyd said. “How could you just shoot a 4-month-old baby and a (22)-month-old baby like that? They were good people. How could they do that?”

I hope to hell the perps are caught, tried, convicted and executed (yes, I believe in due process for every crime) regardless of whether the victims were dealing drugs.

I am not a fan of drugs, people dealing drugs, or houses involved in the trade of drugs. But how on earth can you not grasp that innocent lives were lost!?! Are you dead inside? Those were babies. We know nothing of their mothers good or bad. Where is the sympathy?

As far as finding the killers, I don't know what will come out of it. I hope even bad folks will realize babies being killed is wrong and rat them out.

I'm reserving judgement on the women, for the moment, I'm thinking the boyfriends/husbands were the drug dealers and targets, the girl friends/wives and children were collateral damage. I may be wrong, have to see what develops.

Regardless of the mothers being career criminals or not, the children should never have been in this situation. The children were clearly not a threat and any old school criminal would not have touched them. Damn gang bangers and drug dealers, may God be heavy handed in his justice.

There's info missing from that story (as usual). It's hard to tell who to be angry at first, or the most. Killing kids/infants is the hallmark of scum. If these moms were, in fact, involved in the drug trade then they are equally responsible for putting helpless children into that environment.

Looks like all four guys have been caught.

2 are being charged with four counts of murder
and the other 2 are being charged with conspiracy to commit robbery....

i think there are a handful of other charges also - but those are the major ones.

I hope they all get anal raped in prison.

For the ones who actually make that quick dollar -they spend it on clothes, shoes, jewelry....dumb****....and they never invest it. They'll go flashing around 300-400 dollars like its a lot of money....can't even pay rent with that chump change.
