Greetings,

I was looking for a 1st Gen G-17 for a quite awhile to add to my Glock stable. I found this one with two of the old style magazines for $400.00. The serial number is CP4XX. It has Austrian marks and is one of the first 29,000 G-17 imported to the US.

It is missing the trigger housing pin and did not have the all black internals so I'm guess it had already been updated. If any other members have 1st gen that they would like to sell my father in law is looking for one all the goodies included.

Here are a couple of pictures of the 1st Gen G-17 along with my other Glocks. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

I think this G-17 is in pretty good condition for it's age.

All three generations of Glock 17's.

Hey Eric, welcome to GlockTalk!

Nice polymer!

Call Glock and tell them you just bought a used G17 and that it has no trigger housing pin in it, I would expect they'll just send you one.

As for the gun having been updated already, it probably has, but the color of the parts only means it probably has....early first generation G17's had plated trigger bars too.

Below is G17 serial number AP09x, imported in March of 1986, one of the first five thousand. It has not been altered from original factory condition.

Note that the trigger bar is not 'dark', but also note that the top edge of the trigger bar extension is flat. If the one in yours is flat on top, it probably hasn't been upgraded either. Check the trigger bar out to be sure.

Tell us about your G17L! What's the prefix? DA?

Just purchased a glock 17 first generation last week also!
Check out my thread (first glock brochure?)
http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=807721

as that was the inspiration to get one for my collection. I like that smooooth grip!
Never really liked how big they are, but since I have two others for carry, I decided to get one for the range. Mine is serial FN so I estimate 1989. Although this is 1st generation, my 2nd generation 19 is FN also, so they are almost matching!
It was shipped early this week, so I might be able to SEE it tomorrow, but since I just did one transfer this month in CA, I unfortunately have to wait 30 more days to start transfer with a 10 day wait after that. I envy those states where you can just walk out the door with it!

If any other members have 1st gen that they would like to sell my father in law is looking for one all the goodies included.

Did you see this glock 17 in the firearms sales section with everything in the box?

Butch,

Thank you for the pictures of the old and new parts. I already sent my G-17 back to Glock for the missing trigger housing pin. I called Glock and spoke to William and he said he would have to change the five critical parts so I couldn't get it back without the change. Crap!

Oh well. He's said he wounldn't change the sights or completely rebuild the gun
since I called and tried to get it returned. I probably did have original internals after looking at your pictures of the parts. Doh!

As for my G-17L the prefix is DB44X, and it is the gun that I use in my GSSF matches. I love that gun! It really pegs!

That's what they are! And, although 18 rounds fit in them nicely, I believe they were intended to fit only 17.

Very Nice I got one off a guy I work with last year for 200 dollars he bought it new shot it 4 times and just wanted to get rid of it sense his grandchild would be staying with him for awhile. To be honest I'd rather shoot that one then my 3rd generation I have, It just feels better in my hand.

Since that recoil spring guide rod is of the non-captured type (and AF is one of the first 1000 Glocks imported), it's obviously original equipment......please, before someone makes an assumption, tell us what it's made of!
