Anyone have an experiance with the new Walther. My wife likes her p22 so much, i'm thinking about getting one, but I can't find a single review anywhere.

I was wondering if it had a "stun" setting or not. Also kind of reminds me of a miniature automotive timing light.

But seriously, with that cocking grip on what would be the "slide", it looks as though they are trying to market a design that bridges the high-end forward magazine target pistols and the more traditional .22 semi-autos with grip magazines.

Hard to tell from that picture, but if it was for general plinking/target/small game duty, I'd ersonaly want a .22 that had an integral optics rail on the top like the S&W 22A, the Ruger MkIII's that have them, or the Beretta Neos. The P22's lack of that makes sense as it's trying to emulate service pistols and be a "mini P99".

It's kind of, well, ugly.

I played with one at a local gun store, and the only thing I liked was the feel of the grip. Other than that, the complete layout of the gun was a nightmare for me. The safety pushes out to the left side of the gun, protruding out 1/4", boot heel mag release which was somewhat more cumbersome to operate than any other I've used, either the slide didnt lock back after last round or it did and it didnt have a release(cant remreber which it was but one of the 2), and the cocking mechanism is near the end of the barrel. To top it off, the sights were pretty bad. When I first seen one, I was somewhat interested in getting one, but after a few minutes of playing around with it, I had zero interest in it. There are a few people over at rimfire central who have them and seem to like them, but its not my cup of tea. YMMV.

Good Lord...

I like C&R and antique stuff, traditional, and modern, and I even have soft spots for ugly stuff from Kel-Tec and other Walther uglies like the PPS.

But that, that... thing looks like Walther hired somebody who's watched too many of those Tomb Raider films, or those vampires + Matrix movies with Wesley Snipes and/or Kate Beckinsale in them...

I suppose Walther is going to make "B" and "C" straight-to-DVD action and sci-fi movies propmaster jobs a lot easier for the next decade or so. Either that or it simply exists to make the base model look more reasonable.

Does it unload itself every time you put it in a holster? Looks like it would.

Held a few today at the Houston gunshow. They were $299.

I liked the grip. I would have bought it instead of the Buckmark had they been out in Feb 07!

I can't even tell how you would load a round into the chamber or what recoils back during firing.

Definitely a Eurogun. Very odd looking, probably made specifically for the Euro target shooting crowd. Among the odder gun conversations I've heard, which is more accurate for target work? A .25 ACP or a .40 S&W? And no, they weren't joking.. 9mm Para not allowed, they have 9X21 IMI.

Perhaps the thing on the left side is a cocking lever? The slide might not be a "slide" at all.

Go to Rimfirecentral.com in the Walther section and you will find several reviews, and can have your questions answered as there are several owners on there.

When I saw it in the case I thought it was too ugly to live. I picked one up anyway and my opinion changed real quick. It points so good it's unreal, and just fits right into my hand like it was made for me.

I'm going over to Cabelas today to see if I can get one. It may be ugly, but looks don't put the holes in the X ring.
