View Full Version : .32 Caliber J-Frames?

This club seems .38-centric at the moment. I am curious about .32 caliber chief's. I wish I would have gotten one of those titanium .32s when they were around, but alas....
What S&W model numbers were associated with .32 special/magnum chamberings?
Are any of these still manufactured?
In particular, has anybody had experience with the Ti .32 (sorry, I don't know the model number).
Where's a good place to look for Chief's in this caliber?
Thanks

There are the 631s and 632s in the Airweight. The Ti was a 332 IIRC. The latest were the 431s and the 432s. None are current made.
You can get the 431/431s for about $450 in Gun Digest.
I've shot the 332 and own the 432 - not hard to shoot at all.
The only ones in current production are the Charter Arms and the new 327 SP101 from Ruger which will shoot the 32 Mags.
I don't know about Chief's in 32 Mag.
There were small guns in 32 SW or Colt but they are way out of production. There were some top breaks made into the early 40's, IIRC.
You might be interested in the I-frame guns.
These were the pre-cursor to the J-frame (last iterations were the Terrier Models 30, 31, 32, and 33, I believe), and can be found in .22, .32, and .38 S&W calibers. They are a bit smaller, all around, than the J-frame; delightful little revolvers. Blue or nickle are your only finish options, but if you really like one there are many after-market finishes available.
I would like to have a pristine Fourth or Fifth Model New Departure top break in .32; I am somewhat fascinated by those later top-breaks.
But, alas, not fascinated enough to pay the freight...

Ah, I saw a nice pre-Model 30 I-frame yesterday with a 3.25" barrel that warmed my heart. I might head back and try to make a swap - that's what I need, another caliber to load!

Exactly. Another reason why I pass on that .32 top-break.
I'm getting a 317 snubbie instead. The older I become, the more appealing .22s are for shooting...
