I bought an older Aimpoint Comp M a couple days ago that had never had batteries in it or mounted. I thought the battery that came with it was weak because the red dot does not even show up till about the 5th click, and it is very dim, the 10th click is the brightest but it is about as bright as the 2nd lowest setting on my $30 gunshow special red dot. I bought new batteries on my way home from work last night. The new batteries are actually dimmer than the one that came with it.

Is something wrong with it? According to the manual, it should hold 3 batteries but it will only hold 2. The battery that came with it was a single battery that was about the size of 2 of the batteries the manual recommends (675).

If you have any idea's, let me know.

Thanks

Get the correct new batteries first. Also remember that the first positions on the brightness are for use with NV gear so it will be hard to impossible to see without some sort of additional NV equipment. If all else fails the CompM was from the early 90's but Aimpoint may be willing to go over it if you contact them.

The Aimpoint M Battery Type- One 3 Volt Lithium battery type 2L76 or DL1/3N or I guess you could also use two of the 1.5V AG13, LR44 or equal. You should call Aimpoint (1-877-Aimpoint) about the problem you are having.

To hear most tell it Aimpoint sights never have problems.

The first 3-4 clicks will see nothing without night vision goggles. You may have a 2-in-1 battery cell (kind of like Surefire uses) and then a single battery.
